Release Notes

  • Method CRM Updates - August 30, 2012

The following indicates which accounting application(s) the release note(s) apply to.

    • QBD = QuickBooks Desktop
    • QBO = QuickBooks Online

    Activities List

    • New (#3710) - in some cases you might want to filter your activity list by more than one piece of information.  For example, you might want to see all the activities assigned to a specific user with a specific status. Doing this with the old activity list screen was a challenge since the “Assigned To/Type/Status” column only allowed for one filter at a time.

Now you are able to show additional columns for assigned to, type, status, contact, name and company.  This allows you to filter by these columns using the filter header at the top of the grid. (QBD & QBO)

So how do you show additional columns?
      1. Click the gear icon in the bottom right corner of the grid.
      2. Select the columns you’d like to appear.
      3. Click Update.  Keep in mind that this will only last as long as you keep this window open.  This means the next time you open this screen, these columns will be hidden again.
    • New - quickly edit a contact or entity by clicking on the contact/entity name when the contact or name field is displayed in the activities grid. (QBD & QBO)

    • New - using any of the new filter views with the word “future” allows you to see activities you have schedule for a future date.  This is a great way to quickly check and see if you have a follow-up activity scheduled for a contact. (QBD & QBO)
    • Improved (#3211) - the existing filter views have been updated to filter out activities that are part of the series. Method users who use recurring activities would have a difficult time locating the series vs. the occurrences.  Now all filter views except for those with the word “series” no longer display the series in the list.  Special thanks for Susan and Lisa for the feedback on this.  I know it took a while but we’ve got it in there now.
    • Improved - the new activity button now uses Method’s button styling vs. an image.  Hover over it and you’ll see....oh....ah..... (QBD & QBO)

    Cheers,

    Danny

  • Method Platform Updates - August 16, 2012

"August" version will be available later today

The following updates are now available on the staging site.  You can access the August version by clicking "Switch to the August version" when you sign into Method.

    • Big Google Mapping update:
      • We are now using Google Maps API v3.8. Using the latest Google Maps API, we can now use HTTPs connections, making mapping more secure, and also removing security warnings when moving from Method to the Map in Internet Explorer.
      • We have improved the algorithms that are used to calculate routes. The previous limit for optimizing routes was 26 stops. The limit is now 100 stops!
      • Improved interface and button styling.
      • We now give you icons to grow/shrink the map. Very useful when trying to visualize the route with a lot of stops.
      • No more need for minimum accuracy settings.
      • We now have a progress bar for optimizing the map - in case the number of stops makes it take a long time.
    • Multi-tenancy for QuickBooks Online users - franchises and companies that need more than one QuickBooks Online account to sync to the same Method account can now finally take advantage of the multi-tenancy features we had previously made available for QuickBooks Desktop users.
    • New appearance for Method tabs, to have smoother corners and gradient.
    • Added the Google Gadget link under Customize > Integration Tools.
    • Fix: Yes/No comparisons - in the case of Start Conditional Statement and other actions where there two Yes/No fields are compared to see if they are the same, the comparison would be a numeric comparison instead of a Yes/No comparison if the first value being compared was "0" or "1".
    • Fix: Mobile search box - if you were on a mobile phone and searched in a grid header, clicking "Go" in your browser caused a server error, rather than running the search.
    • Fix: The Default Resource setting for the calendar was being ignored in some situations.
    • Fix: Character Function "Get Right" was not showing the previously saved values when re-opening.

    Enjoy,

    Paul

Updated Method Integration Engine for QuickBooks Desktop

The following updates are now available on the version 1.0.207 of the Method Integration Engine.

    • Small change to error detection from QuickBooks, fixing a bug introduced by version 1.0.206. The bug was when certain QuickBooks errors were raised, the sync engine would report an "HRESULT" error when it had previously just reported a conflict.

You can get this update by either waiting for Method to automatically update over the next few days, or by (1) shutting down your Method Integration Engine, and (2) installing the update from here: www.methodintegration.com/MethodIntegrationEngineV2/MethodIntegrationQB.application

    Enjoy,
    Paul

    "July" version now available

The following updates are now available on the staging site.  You can access the July version by clicking "Switch to the July version" when you sign into Method.

Note: you'll notice the July version is light in changes. The developer team is being focused this summer on some longer term projects.

    • Clear screen for new entry - now clears radio buttons. Previously, the last status would remain selected.
    • Gmail Gadget link - The Gmail Gadget is now available under Customize > Integration Tools. Previously you had to request an invite to join the beta.
    • QuickBooks Custom fields that have names that start with a number are now prepended with an underscore. This allows them to be exported from the Import/Export tool.

    Enjoy,

    Paul

  • Method Platform Updates - July 7, 2012

    Updated Transaction table

    • AmountForAccountBalance  - The Transaction table now has a new column called "AmountForAccountBalance". This gives the debit (as positive) and credit (as negative) balances for all accounting transactions to help total up the balance of available transactions.

Note: The transaction table is not intended to be a General Ledger, nor should it be considered the source of truth for accounting balances - QuickBooks should.

    Enjoy,
    Paul

Updated Method Integration Engine for QuickBooks Desktop

The following updates are now available on the version 1.0.206 of the Method Integration Engine.

    • Improvement to customer-level custom fields on transactions - Previously, if a QuickBooks customer-level custom field was entered on a transaction in Method, it would sync successfully to QuickBooks. However, due to recent changes in QuickBooks, the value entered in the custom field was only synced if the customer did not have a default entry in their customer custom field. If the customer had a default value in the custom field it would win. Version 1.0.206 introduces an update that ensures that the custom field entered on a transaction in Method always goes to QuickBooks.
    • Blue icons! -  we're phasing out the brown, and it was the Method Integration Engine's turn. You'll see the Method Integration Engine's icon is now blue.
    Enjoy,
    Paul
