Deleting Large Amount of Customers

    Deleting Large Amount of Customers

    So we are a company that has customer types who are end consumers, wholesalers, and distributors.  We have them labeled as different "customer types" in Quickbooks and Method.  For the use of Method, we DO NOT need the end consumer, or what we have labeled "retail".  Problem is, back when we imported our customers from Quickbooks, we accidentally imported ALL types of customers and our retail customers make up a large amount of that list (20,000+)We would like to get these types of customers out of the way as I believe it would speed up our database and get rid of the major clutter.

    Is there a way for us to delete those "retail" customers en masse from our method database without deleting them from quickbooks?

    Hi Darrin, 

    You cannot completely delete a customer from the Method database without also deleting it in Quickbooks. However, you can clean up the clutter in your Method account. One way to do this is to filter your grids to not include any customers with the CustomerType field labelled 'retail'. Let's start with the Customers and Contacts List tab linkIf you click the Filter By View setting near the top of the grid, you have a choice of some preset filter views. If you wish, you may customize this screen to include more of your own filter views (e.g. one that filters out 'retail' customers). Is this something that interests you? 

    A second solution could be to make these customers inactive, however this will sync with Quickbooks and cause them to be inactive there too.

    Thanks Jason.... It would be nice to delete, but changing the preset filter works almost as good as that.  Appreciate the quick response.
