    Automated emails

    Hi Method Team,

Can method offer a solution for my task?

I want to create a calander with reocurring services for customers and as each service approaches I would like to send an automated email reminder of the coming service date to the customer.

I am aware of how to use the calander to create the reocurring services and have the services turn into invoices and then batch invoice at the end of the month. So, is there a process in method that will send reminders to customers 1 or 2 days prior to the reocurring service date?

    Thanks

    Answer

    HI Matt,

Currently there is no means to send automatic emails to customers letting them know in advance that they have a service scheduled but through the use of actions you can create a button that will send an email to a list of customers.

One of my recent customizations was re-engineering the Email Work Orders button found on the Work Order List screen to have it send emails to customers instead of employees for the services showing on the work order list. In this scenario the user would bring up the calendar for let’s say tomorrow and click Email Work Orders and this would email all the customers that have a service scheduled for tomorrow.

Thanks, that is what I need to do. What screen do I need to edit to add the action to the email button?

    Hi Matt,

In the case I mentioned above I worked off the FieldService_WorkOrderList screen which is standard with the Field Services App (You will need Method Full Blown to install Apps) but its really up to you where you want to add this functionality.

    Re: Automated emails

    Michael,

The description you gave of re-engeneering the Email work Order button is exactly what I am trying to do. I have created the email template and am working on creating a button for the FieldService_Calendar screen. is it easier to put the button on the calendar screen or the work orders list screen?

Can you share with me some of the needed functions to get the button to work properly?

    Thanks,

    Hi Matt,

The location of the button is really up to you but the current button processes info based on a grid.

As for going into the specifics of what functions I used that’s starts to get into paid consulting. What I will say though is that the existing button is about 70% there of what you need to do; you just have to change it to send an email template instead of a PDF and get it to send emails to your customers instead of your employees.
