Katie,

Thank you for sending over the screenshot. This helped me to understand where you were coming from and where the confusion is happening.

Let me first explain something about the pipeline amount. The pipeline amount that is associated with an opportunity is updated to reflect the current stage and probability percentage. As the stage gets closer to closing, the pipeline amount will increase. This way when you are viewing your opportunities in the pipeline, you can quickly see a dollar amount of all your opportunities in the pipeline. Once an opportunity is set to closed won, the opportunity is no longer in the pipeline however the pipeline amount will be equal to the amount of the opportunity since it has reached 100% probability. Of course if the opportunity is lost, the pipeline amount would be set to zero.

In the screenshot you sent me, you're looking at the "Shared Closed Opportunities" which is just a list of all the opportunities that are both closed won and closed lost. That's why the pipeline amount is set to either the amount of the opportunity or 0.00.

Where the pipeline amount really matters is when your filter view is set to "Shared Opportunities in pipeline" or "My Opportunities in pipeline". These are your real time view of where your pipeline stands and were you can compare your total amount of potential revenue from opportunities vs. your current pipeline amount.

I hope this helps!

Only stages that have the category of "Open" will appear in the pipeline. Selecting stages with a category of "Closed Won" vs. "Closed Lost" really only affect reports you wish to generate down the road. For example, if you wanted to run a report for all the opportunities you lost in 2011.

You'll see over the coming months that we'll be releasing reports that leverage this data. However the graphs focus only on stages that have "Open" as the category.

Re: Closed Opportunity

The closed stage selected is "Closed Won".
Looking at the graphs on the Home Dashboard screen, they are filtered so that any Opportunity Stage that has a Opportunity Stage Category containing the word "Closed" should not show up.

Just to confirm if you go click on the ... next to the Stage dropdown (This should bring up the New / Edit Opportunity Stages screen) and select your "Closed" Stages is the Opportunity Stage Category either Closed Lost or Closed Won?

The following steps will help you get rid of the Closed Won stage:

Go to Opportunities>New Opportunity.

Click on the ... beside the Stage dropdown.

Click on the Select link for the existing opportunity stages.

Click on the More actions... button and select Delete Opportunity Stage.

I hope that this helps.

If the opportunity stage is considered Closed Lost then the probability (%) will be considered 0.00 and the pipeline is 0.00 regardless of the opportunity amount. If the opportunity stage is considered Closed Won, then the probability (%) will be 100 and the pipeline will equal to the amount of the opportunity.

Within the "New Opportunity" screen, the amount for the opportunity will always stay the same unless the user decides to make the amount of the opportunity lower then the original amount. This amount is the value that you will place towards the potential sale opportunity.

The Probability % is the only relational change to the different opportunity stage selection. The % will always change throughout the lifecycle of the opportunity.
