What table are you trying to import into? In my Method account I went to Customize>>>Tables / Fields and looked into the Customer table - the table you should be importing into. EntityType is not listed as a required field the user has to specify because it is automatically taken care of for you.

Re: importing Leads question

Yes, all of that I have done. My problem truly comes down to Method is uploading my Leads as a customer instead of lead. I think it's because of my question of:

Why is it when I'm importing my file with THE necessary field of EntityType (and all records show Customer Lead), Method doesn't recognize this field upon import?

To try to rectify, I choose the option "use an existing field" - in that drop down box, there is NO EntityType field for me to choose???

I'm going to ask you read an earlier post that might help you when importing leads (click here). Give that a read and let me know if you have more questions.

Cheers.

Re: importing Leads question

Yes, I had that box checked! Thanks so much!

Now, as per your advice earlier, my file includes EntityType as a field and Method doesn't recognize it as one of its fields. I'm confused because it seems this field must be included so as to not turn my leads into customers on the import......

Are you sure you are aren't using the update feature on the Import / Export tool to try and 'update' rather than import new leads? The message indicates you're trying to update.

In step 2 of the import process where you prepare the data, you will see a check box 'Update existing records by matching the key fields' make sure you remove any checkmarks here if you are trying to import NEW records.

importing Leads question
