Thanks for your question. The answer to this depends on the version of QuickBooks you are using with Method (i.e. QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop).

If you are using QuickBooks Online, you can find deleted customers by changing your filter to view 'All' customers. Since customer's in QuickBooks Online are made inactive instead of deleted, Method follows the same behaviour. Therefore you can make the customer active again in Method, or you can make the customer active in QuickBooks Online and it would sync vice versa. The activities, cases, etc will not be deleted from a customer made inactive (if you are using QuickBooks Online).

If you are using QuickBooks Desktop, then it's not possible to find that customer since they would be deleted in both Method & QuickBooks Desktop. This would also result in activities, cases, etc, being deleted from the customer as well.

Hope this answers your question.

I want to update you that we have place a distinct message for this situation in an upcoming Method release. The message will warn the user if they trying to make a customer inactive when they are syncing with QB Online.

We recommend that you delete the customer rather then making them inactive. This will archive/hide them in QBO and in Method, but it doesn't actually delete them forever.

Re: Making old customers 'Inactive' glitch

Lisseth - Welcome to the Forum

I believe that you are currently using the QuickBooks Online Edition. There is not an option to make a customer inactive within the QB online software. Hence under Method, when you are setting a customers to be inactive there is no relationship with that field in QB Online during the sync process. This means when the sync sends that customers info back to Method, the customer is still Active (no inactive mode) and changes the customer accordingly back in Method.

We are currently examining a more user friendly way to illustrate this situation within Method and will post with a resolution when it has been reached.

Just a FYI, QB Desktop does have an inactive function for their customers. Therefore Method is able to utilize the inactive mode.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

I've had to go back to every single one and make them 'Inactive a second time and thats when it finally works and they get move to the 'Inactive' list. Is there a solution to this?
