My mistake I should've tested this before running you through all the steps. I actually just learned something new, the dropdown field in the LeadStatus table cannot be modified. This is because when a Lead is converted into a Customer our system automatically switches the LeadStatus to Qualified and puts a timestamp on the record stating when that Lead was converted, then does the sync to QuickBooks. So if we allowed the dropdown to be modified then someone can potentially delete the Qualified value which will screw up our automated process.

In your case I would suggest using Opportunities to keep track of what stage your leads are on, and you can use the Opportunity Stage field on the New Opportunity screen. You can modify these values by Viewing the CRM_OpportunityStageList screen.

Just to clarify, these values are only stored in Method as Leads/Opportunities/Activities/Cases/etc, don't sync with QuickBooks as they don't exist. For QB 2013 users, the leads screen is much different than the Method leads screen and it still does not sync with Method.

- Ashur

Re: Editing values of a field

Okay, I did create a grid with mostly jsust the default values. In view mode it displays Lead Status values with a checkbox for each. To the right (the overall screen is a 2x2) is the Lead Status field itself. Below are the 2 buttons for save all changes and delete active. First question... There is a blank area in the grid above the existing fields' checkboxes. Is that just for search, or do you enter new values here too? The field box (List Status) has a blank. Is this where you add a field value?

For this field specifically, it gives an error that it cannot be changed because Quickbooks does not allow the editing of this field. So I said, Aha! Is this the case of several of these lists? That's why you can't see the values. They aren't housed in Method, they are housed in Quickbooks??

Re: Editing values of a field

Whew! Let me take a step back for a second and just address the first part. So by your description, it sounds like you have to create a custom screen in order to edit the lead status valuess at all. There isn't just a simple place to do that. Correct?

Looking at your description, is there a place to better understand grid creation/editing? I saw the option was I was creating the new New Lead screen, and it's a little complicated. Where can I go to see the step by step of a grid edit and what each part actually does? Your description leaves out a lot of detail for a newb. :)

Thanks,

Welcome to Method! As you suspect this is something that is simple to accomplish. First you should make a custom screen based off the LeadStatus table. Add the Lead Status field to the screen, along with a grid object, and a couple of button objects. When editing the grid you want to ensure that you add the two available fields as well as a Link, it will be named Select. Edit your buttons to add the Save All Sections action to one of your buttons, then add the Delete Active Record for the second button; so you'll have one Save and one Delete button. Publish and Save the screen then View it to add what you would like, and you can delete any mistakes you make. In order to view a screen go to Customize > Screens > locate the screen name then click the View button to the left of the screen name.

For adding/deleting Lead Sources View the CRM_OpportunityLeadSourceList screen; you'll be able to add and delete entries directly from this screen.

In order to remove the ability to add a new lead source from the CRM_NewLead screen you would need to make a copy of the screen, remember to replace the tab links. Edit the screen then edit the Lead Source dropdown field. Remove the actions that are executed under the Button Click and Add New events. Hope this helps!

I am new to Method, and I am starting to customize some of the screens and fields. My first (of probably many) seems like it should be super simple, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Where can you "see" the actual values of a field in order to edit (add or delete)? For example, in the New lead screen, there are 2 fields that need some editing. Lead status and Lead source. I haven't added a lead manually, but it seems like you could just type in a new value such as "new". You can certainly do that with Lead Source, but I don't want anyone to be able to add new values in these fields. I want to delete most of the existing values of Lead Source and replace them with new ones. In the case of Lead status I just want to add one or two. Then I want to remove the ability for a user to add a new Lead source or lead status.

I'm sure this is a really easy function. I just can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks!
