If you don't want to make the grid editable then include a Select link on your grid so that you can set a specific Activity as the on screen active record ID. Then drag the SalesOrder field onto your screen and include a button object which will update the value of that field in the Activity table (Update Field in Table action). Then add the Refresh Grid action so that the update shows on your screen right away.

Yes this is possible through customization. Check out our Plot Address action below, you'll notice that there is a Return Optimal Order option which in turn can be used to sort your printed route list. This is considered a more challenging customization job so if you don't feel comfortable tackling it on your own, you can always speak with an in-house Consultant or one of our Method Solution Providers (MSP).

It is in the grid and I see the field, but I can't change it in the grid. I must edit it by going to the "edit" link to the add/edit activity. I would like to edit the sort code on the fly, but don't want to make all the fields in the grid to be that way. I know I can set a global "allowed editing of fields in grid", but that is not what I want. I know there should be set of actions that I can program it be be able to change it similar to when you do the global edit and it shows the down arrows for each column.

Also, we are a previous Qxpress user and we had the mapping feature with MapPoint that would allow us to optimize the routes and it would then populate the appropriate sort code back into the field. Is this something that I could have Method customize for us? If so, who would I speak to?

Do you mean that you would like to edit this one particular field while looking at the grid on your screen?

If you haven't already, watch our Getting started with Tables and Fields as well as Introduction to the Customization Screen webinars.

You'll need to edit your screen, then edit the grid and add the SortOrder field. Once that's done you can Publish/Save & Close the screen editor. Then view the actual screen and edit the data as needed. Whenever you add a new field to a table, you'll need to edit the associated screen(s) and add that field in order to be able to see it. Hope this helps!

I would like to be able to update one field in a grid while in the table. (SortOrder) I have watched the webinars about the actions, and I can't seem to get it to work. Do you have the exact instructions on how to do this or can you tell me which webinar to watch. Also, I created a custom field "Gate Code" and when I put that into my route list, it will not show up when it prints. Any suggestions?
