This will work for what we need by just adding a new line to move stuff around. Its not perfect but very workable. Thank you for all the help.

Hi Jake,

The reason the LineOrder number reverts back is because Quickbooks will not allow you to rearrange items that are already on the estimate. You can only set the LineOrder on a brand new item. The only work around for changing the LineOrder of existing items it to recreate the item, set the LineOrder column to the correct number, and then delete the duplicate.

If you like, you can always create a new field and sort the grid differently as Andy suggested, but you would have to customize something similar on the reports as well.

That will work for just changing it in the MEthod Estimates tab. But once you try to print to a PDF template it is going to sort according to the Line Order number. So is there a way that you can make the Line Order number save when you change it in the grid in the Estimate Tab. Be Default you can change the value but you can't save those changes to the Line ORder column. Once you hit update it just goes back to the number it was automatically assigned.

Step 4 of 9 on the grid for the estimate line items includes 3 dropdowns in which you can define the sort order for grid items (filter by any field in the table). So you can sort by record ID, then date then amount for instance. Also by clicking on the field heading on the live grid you can sort ascending or descending, again by amount etc...

I am trying to figure out how you can change the line order for an Estimate. So if I build a 20 item estimate and then need to re organize it into a better order I don't have a way to do that. I found in the customize that you can add the Line order column to the Estimate Grid. But You can change the numbers around but when you hit update the number jsut revert back to what they were orignally. Any help would be greatly apprecaited.
