Removing the Method Subscription

NOTE: If you have attempted to remove Method from your computer already, you will need to reinstall Method in order to properly follow the steps below. To reinstall Method, follow the steps under the QuickBooks tab. Once that is done, proceed with the steps below.

Open QuickBooks.

If the Method Integration Engine is not already open, click Start > All Programs > Method > Method Integration Engine for QuickBooks.

In the Method Integration Engine, click Disconnect.

Click Synchronize > Real time QuickBooks Subscription > Remove Subscription.

Click File > Shut Down.

In QuickBooks, click Edit > Preferences.

Click Integrated Applications.

Click the Company Preferences tab.

Click Method Integration Engine Listener.

Click Remove.

Click Yes.

Click Method QuickBooks Desktop Integration Engine.

Click Remove.

Click Yes.

Click OK.

Click File > Exit.

Once QuickBooks is closed, try and reopen it. If you receive the message to enable Method with QuickBooks again, click Cancel and continue with the steps below. If you do not receive a prompt from QuickBooks asking for Method to connect, you have successfully removed the Method Engine from your computer.

Ensure QuickBooks is closed.

Open My Computer and navigate to:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\QuickBooks

Note: If you are unable to locate this file, use the Find tool on your computer to search for the file called ‘qbsubconfig.xml’.

Delete the file called qbsubconfig.xml.

Reopen QuickBooks.

Once these steps are followed, you can than remove Method from Add/Remove Programs in Windows. You will no longer receive the prompt for permissions for Method to access QuickBooks.
