It is possible and from what you wrote you did it correctly. To make sure you have the correct option, I have a screenshot below. I am making the default filter My Invoices. Once you check the This is the default view for this grid, the default filter will be for that filter and will uncheck it on the previous filter.

Try doing it again. This time keep the screen with the grid open. When you complete the Publish, you should see as screen like below. This will tell you have saved changes for the screen.

I think you are probably doing something wrong, as this is certainly possible. The default filter is set when you edit Grid filters; there is a check box to indicate the one you want as default.

You may want to invest in some consulting time with a internal or external Method consultant to walk you through some basic customizations - it might make the learning curve less steep.

How do you set a default filter for a list view. I went in to customize the screen and edited the list grid. And navigated to the option to select the default filter and clicked on finish. Then I clicked on publish. Then save and close. Then I refreshed method, and still it defaults to the original default, sometimes it seems like it chooses a filter at random. I also confirmed that the list is set to my custom screen. Am I doing something wrong or is this not possible? Thanks
