Hi Shelley-

Now in Method if you enter a value into a drop down that does not exist in the drop down and click Save you will get a warning. This should address your issue.

This can happen in situations where drop down fields aren't required fields. I have put in a ticket to address this further.

I recently hired a data entry person to manually change the sales rep for almost 300 customers (we normally due an import but there were special circumstances). After checking her work, I noticed that not a single change was made. I checked the audit trail (Method's) and each record said it was modified but clearly nothing had changed.

Here's what my brilliant assistant did:

1. All Sales Reps needed to be changed to "AS", which is a name on the list

2. My instructions were to change each rep to "Ayiesha" thinking that this person had worked with me long enough to know her initials were "AS"

3. My assistant copied and pasted "Ayiesha" into the rep field about 270 times. She saw the swirly "save" circles and moved on. I tested ths myself with fake names like "moo moo" (which also exceeds the 5 character limit) and had the same impression, that my madness was being saved to Method (but it was not saved)

4. i have never seen a database where this would be allowed, pasting a name that was not already in the drop down (or adding it), and then seeing a fake "save" action.

Please help. This is way too weird.
