Gadget default field length

I'm liking the Gmail Gadget however not fond of the situation when adding an "activity" that it truncates the message... is there a way to change the default field length from 250 characters to full email message length?

Address Change does not update.

If you change an address for a customer in Quickbooks, and you have an existing work order in Method, the address does update on that existing work order, but does NOT update onto the google calendar. So if you have a technician that looks only at their google calendar for where they are going next, they go to the wrong address

You can see/use Gmail Gadget on iOS & Android

In the FAQs it says:

"Browser-based versions of Gmail users - the Gmail Gadget works in all major, modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, FireFox, IE8+). It does not work in mobile versions of Gmail (neither mobile browser optimized versions nor native versions)."

But if you monkey around with gmail your browser (not gmail app, and maybe the mobile browser must be Chrome?) you can choose the desktop version of gmail on your iPhone, iPad or Android device and the Google Gadget works great. I also find that the user experience within Method on a tablet (iPad or Android) is better when using the desktop version, not the mobile version.

FWIW, although I have only done limited testing to date, the one thing to note is that the text of email templates in iOS shows up as html. On Android, it displays as rich text. I haven't found a workaround for this yet, and it may make us choose Android over iOS devices in the future.

I would be happy to upload photos or a video somewhere, if that would be helpful to others.

Google Calendar Sync Issue

Just a heads up. After the new sign in was established last night, the "enable sync" for syncing with Google Calendar was unchecked for all of my user's. Needed to check it, click enable sync, which only resulted in the box becoming unchecked. However repeating the process twice and sometimes three times, did work to re-enable the sync.

The Google app continues to give me a fail when I attempt to save an e-mail.

This is the message I get when I attempt to create a new activity. The app recognizes the contact/lead but then won't save the email as a new Activity.

Am I the only one having these problems?

When I try to add a new contact from the Gmail gadget, sometimes it takes minutes (maybe 5 minutes).

About half the time I try to add new activities, the activity does not get added at all...although the gadget cycles back to the proper screen as if it had added the activity.

Any thoughts?

Method creating many copies of work orders on google calendar

If I move a work order on the method calendar, from one user's method calendar to another user's calendar, then... about 140 copies of the work order end up on the google calendar. This seems to be new in the last month of so. It has happened a couple times. Does not seem to happen when moving things on one persons calendar, just between people.

WE have an open ticket on this issue for 3 months with no updates. Our method to google sync adds hundreds of duplicate activities on the calendars and then it quits working

Google Gadget unable to add to MethodCRM

I am unable to add contact or event from gmail. when i click the "add contact" button i get the following error:

"There was an unhandled error processing a request. Please try again. last action=loadaddcontact"

is anyone else able to get the gmail connector to work? is there a fix?

Activity Tracking with Gmail Gadget

I'm a heavy user of the Gmail gadget to track all my correspondence in Method CRM, and find it works really well. One feature I use regularly is the ability to schedule a follow-up activity in the future when I am adding an activity. I have struggled though in being able to track the Gmail correspondence, as I have not found a way to associate an email with an existing uncompleted activity.

Here is my usage model . . . I send correspondence to a lead via Gmail, and add the activity, and also set a follow-up, say in one week. A week later, I see the pending activity, and send a follow-up correspondence to the lead via Gmail. (I must use Gmail vs. Method CRM to send the follow-up email because of other Gmail gadgets and capabilities I need to use.) What I would like to do is track the follow-up email, associating it with the existing pending activity. However, I have not found a way to do that. What I end up doing is adding a new activity on the follow-up correspondence from the Gmail gadget, and then I go back into Method CRM and delete the other uncompleted activity.

Is there a better way to do this? Ideally the Gmail gadget could allow an update of an existing activity, adding the Gmail correspondence to that activity and allowing the activity to be marked as completed. Even better would be if you could concurrently set a follow-up activity when you update the existing activity.

New Appointment in Method should use What not Who for Google Calendar Event

When creating a new activity in Method such as a New Appointment, why is the Contact info (example: Meeting for Name, Phone Number) putting this in the Event Title in the Google Calendar? If I create an event in Google this is the "what" not the "who" so why can't we have the contact's email address put in as the guest email instead and have another field in Method solely for the event's title so that this syncs properly to Google?

Google calendar is no longer syncing as of September 29 (I think that coincides with the day we had the crash and workaround) Says the credentials for this connection with Google have expired or been revoked.

Google Calendar not updating to match Method Calendar

Sometimes the google calendar does not seem to update. Yesterday I moved a work order in method to a date 2 weeks in the furture. I also moved another work order from one user's calendar to another. 24 hours later. Neither change has been updated in the user's google calendar. Any idea what it takes to push this data through to google calendar?

Trouble saving documents into SmartVault from the Google Gadget

When I try to add an activity from the google gadget and include attachments, it seems to always send the first attachment to Method / SmartVault without an issue. However, the other attachments don't get added. Every time I add attachments / documents through the Google gadget, I get a pop-up warning that says the following:

"Failed Saving Activity: Save Warning: The Document no longer exists in SmartVault. It may have been moved, deleted or overwritten. Please re-upload this document from Method to SmartVault."

Any idea why this happens? This is a pretty straightforward transaction. Just trying to attach PDF docs from an email via the Google Gadget.

Method Gmail Gadget Gone from Play Store 9/30/14

Not sure if the Method team is aware of this but Google is saying your gadget will be pulled from the available downloads on 9/30/14 due to it using the previous/deprecated version of OAuth. This would mean no new clients will be able to install it after that point, and existing clients that have to redownload for whatever reason will be out of luck. Significant issue if one of the reasons for signing up with CRM was the Gmail integration.

Here's the specific message:

This application uses OAuth1.0, which has been deprecated and will no longer be installable for single sign-on after September 30, 2014. Worse after 4/15 and of your users currently using it will sign in to find it no longer works per the deprecation policy:

"Deprecation Policy

Google will announce if it intends to discontinue or make backwards incompatible changes to this API or Service. Google will use commercially reasonable efforts to continue to operate those Google Account Authentication APIs versions and features identified at http://developers.google.com/accounts/accounts-api-list without these changes until April 20, 2015, unless (as Google determines in its reasonable good faith judgment):

It'd be great if someone could comment on this officially from Method. We were about to migrate to G Apps for this specific reason and that'd be a waste if you're not going to update the software and it's going end of life. Don't know if you guys are going to work on the Google gadget at all but I have a request. When you auto-fill a date on an emal, it should be the date the email is sent, not when I'm reading it. As it is I'm always having to change the date/time, since I don't always read email the minute it comes in.

Should Gadget always open new tab of Method when adding new activity?

Hi!

We're new to Method, we love the Gadget. But every time we use it to add a new activity, it opens a new tab of Method...so we end up with tons of open tabs in Chrome with Method open.

Is that how it's supposed to work?

Or do we have a setting wrong?

Add Email Subject to Activity from Gmail Gadget

Is it possible to add the subject of an incoming email in Gmail when adding an activity using the gadget? My goal is to be able to send an email reply within Method that uses the same subject as the received email, as if I was replying in Gmail.
