James: I haven't encountered issues with 'types' of null values, ie 0 vs 0.0 yet. So far my issues on this topic has been limited to a field having any value at all, even the value is null.
This side topic is interesting. James, how do you ensure that your customized screens keep abreast of the latest Method updates? Do ...

Paul,
I just tried it too, and you are right, the item code is no longer an issue, but the rate still is. If I put a rate of 0 in along with the description I have no issue, including with my custom screens. It'll be easy enough to write an action set that enters a rate automatically for desc-only lines. I'm a happy Methodist again! ...

Paul:
Then I have a few copies of the original Quickbooks_SalesOrder screen that I've tried out, the latest one is titled CopyofOriginal_SalesOrder(2).
Here's how you can recreate the issue:
1. Copy the original Quickbooks_Sales Order screen (the name of the new screen doesn't appear to matter).
2. Fill out the Sales ...

Hi all,
Sorry for the delayed response, I was gone for the weekend. Here's where I'm at after reading your posts and emails:
The more important issue (resolved) :
ie, getting the Report to show the description only lines
I've just tested the standard Sales Order and Invoice reports that come with Method using both custom and ...

James,
While our staff likes to use description-only line items for generic notes, I agree that there are better ways that can be handled, ie text boxes and predefined fields. And yes, I've given up the attempt to work around the issue with a separate table for description only items: I couldn't get it to work, and even if I could I would ...

I've created a new screen for adding/editing Ship-To addresses (this is mimicking a feature that exists in Quickbooks but not Vanilla Method)
The fields are address fields, similar to ShipToAddressLine1, ShipToAddressLine2, etc that you would find in the Sales Order screen.
The physical field box takes up the entire row in a two ...

You know how when you click on a field, an orange outline appears inside the field to indicate that the field is selected? For example, go into the Sales Order screen and click on one of the address lines, and you'll see an orange box outline appear along the inside of the entire field box.
I've just created a screen with some ...

Done.
I have a new idea I want to try out:
As you said from the beginning, the SalesOrderLine table has two required fields: the Item and the Rate. For this reason, I can't add a record to that table with just a value in the description field.
So what if instead I created an action set for "text change" on the ...

Here's something else: during our phone conversation you had determined that it was my customized Sales Order screen that prevented me from saving description-only line items in Method, and that the original Method Sales Order screen does allow you to add new line items where only the description column is populated. After attempting to find ...

Hey, just wondering what the status of this topic is after our phone conversation, as it's been a few days.
As a reminder, you were going to confirm that it is in fact possible for the report designer to display both regular line items and description-only line items simultaneously, given the correct customization. My concern is ...
