You are correct. When you click the Select link in the search screen, it sets Shared Result values. Then those values are used in the OnClosePopup action set in the CRM_LeadList screen. You can find the "OnClosePopup" action set in the Advanced button at the top left when editing the screen.

2 questions. First, can a grid, for example sales order list, have different color columns?
Secondly canthe text color change based on information gathered from the sales order?
For example if the sales order is not invoiced the text on the grid reads in Red or of it is invoiced it is black.

It sounds like an interesting screen. It almost sounds like you want to use the Transaction table, which is the parent table for the purchase order, sales order etc. You can make a grid of this table and you may be able to display all of the records associated with the Inventory Item.
