Hi Brian,
I don't believe what you're asking is possible. You might find the Create Short Method URL action useful though. This action will create a unique URL that will direct your users to a specific tab link or screen in Method. You can even specify a screen RecordID. Hope this helps!

That is actually the expected behaviour....It has been specifically designed to take them to that page (if they have access) and have not synced before. Even if they come off a screen url. This is not going to be changed unfortunately in this version of method.
