Yes the Contact information submitted on the webform will be used to automatically assign the Activity/Opportunity/Case. You don't need to create an additional link anywhere, hope this helps!

Update for you: The fix has been implemented so you should see it on any new webforms you create. I've tested it myself, on both basic and custom webforms, and am proud to announce that Activities/Cases/Opportunities are all now assigned to the Contact submitted on the webform.
