OK, that works, but now I have another issue:
The grid I'm looping through is based on the Contacts table and is filtered to show "parent" entries only (ie. ParentFullname = blank). What I'd like to do is loop through the checked rows in the grid and update the following:

I have a grid based on the Contacts table. and one of the columns is a Yes/No field called "Dormant".

I've tried to upload things like "No email" and "None" into the email field for the particular orphaned contact, but all that does is create MORE orphaned contacts with no identifying information whatsoever. No entity, no name, nothing.

The contact does have a value in the Entity field: eg. 1234, however, when I export the Entity table Record ID 1234 is not in it.
So...how do I get rid of this contact?
