Export your Contacts table and check the TagList formatting. Make sure it is formatted correctly. I have seen cases where the formatted was changed during customization or an import.
Please look at our Help Center article on TagList to see how the formatting should look.

Hey Fred,
If I understand correctly: you want the series to update occurrences upon save - but not overwrite additional data added to the occurrence manually.
This would be an extremely complicated functional logic to put together and I don't believe this can be accomplished.

An option you can take is creating a Grid based off the Received Payments Table. On the Grid you can have field: Customer which will show you a list of all Customers that have Payments against an Invoice.

From my testing, I went through the process and the HTML formatting did stay intact after the import.
