No the system says that you can not delete inactive users if they have edited, modified or entered any enteries in Method. The reason given by the system is that they can not be deleted because they are in the audit trail.
Any other ideas for a work around?

Unfortunately, there is no way to edit that grid to show only active users. We do plan on making improvements to the calendar object in the future, but I have no ETA on when that might be.
You should be able to delete inactive employees. Are you not able to do this?

One thing you could do is create users that can't sign in and call them "Training Room" or "Sales Calendar" and assign activities to those users.
