Ok I was successful in sending an email without the encoding...
next question is: how do I retrieve the email body field from the EmailTemplate table without the coding to be able to send it automatically?

I would just put the html in there without encoding the tags
e.g.<strong>Something bold.</strong>
would show up as
Something bold

Are the html tags encoded? That would cause them to show up as html code rather than as a formatted body

When customizing the tab ordering in the Advanced Screen Properties window, I can move them just fine with the Move arrows. However, this is very tedious on a screeen with many fields that are all jumbled up. Is there any way one can do this via renumbering, simiilar to what is done in the edit actions windows?

Ok. I got it working. It was the difference between attached and detached. A detached table will load, but the same table as an attached table won't. I will keep that in mind for the future.
