Rolf, To make things easy, what's stopping you from using the retrieving for the field you are actually looking for? Using the Customer table as an example: i.e. if you want the actual text value of the CustomerType (drop down field) than retrieve that field or... if you want the record ID of that value use CustomerType_RecordID

By the way, I can imagine a setup for "custom" emails where I add a text field that a salesperson can write a personal message into, then use a merge field to stick that at the end of a email template. But before I resort to that, I'd like to know if I have the option for more precise control and editing of the email itself.
