I guess it's just the nature of data driven applications (from a single source db) with no abstractions in between. It just makes for a very long tail when attempting to customize and change things. thx

Blake Here's an another approach.  You can add an unbound text box object to the screen, label it "delete password", and set the masking property.   You can then use the user supplied value in your condtional statement.
