I just ran into the same problem.  The answer is, that in the table you want to link to, you have to make the field you are linking to a "unique" field.  Then it will show on the list in addition to record id.

I'm getting the exact same error on a page I designed.  I added a button to "Refresh Grid" and when that button is clicked, the error you stated appears.  I have to re-select my customer to reload the page.

I have created dropdown lists in my tables and they have had a 25 item limit for the list.  I really need a larger list of items.  I know the Customer list is a much longer list I can access from a drop down.   My question is how do I create a list like the customer list and then access it from a drop down.

When trying to edit any part of a work order Series in the Add Edit Work Order screen I get the following error:  There were problems generating a request for the grid. Please reload the page.
