I was just reviewing the demo from the Blog on actions. Specifically the part about sending an email when a new contact is entered. I have a few different scenarios I was curious about and unsure how to add.
1. Suppose I want the subject line of the email to be "You have a message from" and then the customer name field. How can I ...

Hi Joe,
Location is actually a field in QB for items. It is only used by the ItemFixedAsset. So you’ll need to call it something else, like “InventoryLocation”.
The reason the API wouldn’t grab it, is that it only shows up for the ItemFixedAsset table. All Items actually share fields in common with one another, and show and ...

Hi Kris,
Let's separate these three questions and focus on #1 first.
I've deleted fields I've added to the Method Item table. In attempting to delete the Location field from the Item table on the Tables/Fields tab I get the message "This is a core accounting field and cannot be deleted." It stays listed on the ...

Hi Joe,
Here are the responses to your questions!
1. These are not fields added by Method, these are actually the fields added by you. By adding the Location and LeadTime fields to your Method, the fields will always show in “Methodapisample_GetTablesFields”, since “Methodapisample_GetTablesFields” looks at your database and ...

If I were to answer this in one word; absolutely! Are you trying to make the fields available to the design screen or modify the template for a custom invoice?
If you’re looking to create fields in Method, you can add custom fields to your heart’s desire at the table level. These fields can then be easily dragged and dropped on to the ...

Hi Isreal,
Usually when you see an error like that, chances are there is a minor problem with your QB file.
In your QB database, go to File > Utilities > Rebuild Data in QuickBooks.
Go through the steps of rebuilding the data and try to sync again. Keep us posted!

Israel submitted a question saying:
"When I try to sync, I’m getting this error message..
10/28/2008 12:20:57 AM Warning: Error in OpenConnectionBeginSession, HRESULT = -2147220452 (8004041C);
An internal QuickBooks error occurred while trying to access the QuickBooks company data file.; iContext=30 "

Great question and it’s important to note the difference between the two.
When a field is added to a table it is automatically bound to a record in the table. As a result, any save action will automatically save the contents of this field to the database while other actions such as “Set Active Record ID” will automatically populate the fields ...
