I've had a look at automating the spell check but I haven't had any luck. Unfortunately, it appears the only way to do it is clicking the ABC spell check button in the Body textbox.

Unfortunately there isn't a merge function we could use here.
You could probably achieve this through customization but I get the feeling it would be more effort than needed for what is probably only an occassional occurrence.

What does the estimate line update do exactly? Please be specific.

The Work Orders are assigned to the Customer rather than the Contact so these two fields won't be any help to you (it caught me out for a while too). If you add a linked field to the Activity table using Entity as below you should be able to get the Customer's Email onto your route sheet.
