Hello Brett,
I have had similar question before. We are constrained with what the Google Calendar gives us. It's the way developers could do it when they built the sync. We can put this in as a feature request for the Google Calendar but I don't know if it is possible for future development.

It is possible that it could be related to the fact that it was a screen that had more sections and objects on it. I noticed when I had a more complex screen, the behavior was a little more unstable. Just need to remember to save and save often

Can you confirm that permissions at the object level is on the roadmap? Otherwise, how would you handle scenario I mentioned?
