Where to Install the Method Integration Engine

We currently have the Method Integration Engine for Use with Quickbooks installed on an individual user's computer (Intel Core 2 Duo E6300, 3 GB of RAM, Windows 7 Professional).  Neither the CPU or RAM on this machine is maxed out, but the Integration Engine has greatly slowed the computer down (from booting up to using Quickbooks, etc.), and we need to move the Integration Engine to another computer. We are considering moving the Engine to our central office server (AMD Opteron 1210 CPU, 4 GB of RAM, MS Small Business Server 2003). This houses our Quickbooks company file and also serves as our Windows domain controller, houses some shared files, and runs SQL Server (used for a few different things). Does this sound reasonable? We are mainly wondering whether the Integration Engine would overload that computer in turn.

    Hi National,

That's a good question but a very hard one to answer. You can setup QB and the Method Sync Engine on a server computer that runs other applications and tasks as well, however, performance may vary depending on the amount of computer resources being used. You can test it out on that system for a week or so and monitor the performace of all applications and tasks running. That will help you make your judgement call on whether you believe this would be the best solution for your organization. Check out the article Mark posted, this is an incredibly useful resource for organizations who decide to install QB and Method on a server environment.

Mark - Thanks for the assist!
