importing my data missing suffix field

So am importing our database into method. Have some fields in our database that are the same field name as methods, one of them being suffix. When I go to import our table and choose to map my suffix field to existing field, suffix is not in the drop down menu to choose from field names. Am I missing something here? I checked to make sure suffix is part of the customer table by exporting the customer table first and suffix field is exported.

    edit..

Now its changed my suffix field name to FullName on the import screen. This is getting weirder. Just tried to import again without including the suffix field and it tells me I am trying to import the same field twice, FullName. Somehow it has changed Suffix to Fullname and then chosen to import the suffix as FullName.

    Hi Ben B,

I'm assuming you're importing records into the Customer table correct? If you store Mr./Mrs/Miss/etc in your suffix column then you should import this data into the Salutation field. The Suffix field isn't utilized on any screens in Method and I believe it exists in the table as a temporary placeholder when syncing records with QuickBooks and vice versa.

Re: importing my data missing suffix field

In our database Title is field name for Mr/Mrs etc and Suffix is what goes after the name, ie PHD, MD etc. I renamed Title to Salutation.

Can you tell me why I can no longer import anymore, I choose not to import suffix but when i click import it now tries to import the suffix field as Fullname giving me the error you see in 3rd picture I linked URL in first post. This is weird. I have tried 4 times to import and each time I dont choose suffix field and it still tries too.

I am even just trying to import a record where I am just importing fields that match method fields, not even create new field names and each time it gives me that FullName error.

    Answer

This message will display when a field name, in this case FullNameis being selected for more than one column. Refresh your browser then start the import process again. When you're on Step 2: Prepare Data, scroll across all your Column Names and ensure that the FullName field name is not being selected more than once. When you've confirmed that, click the Import Data button and you shouldn't receive that message anymore.

I did it 4 times, refreshing, restarting import etc. making sure fullname was not selected twice. It was changing my suffix field to fullname for me even when i chose not to import suffix.

Finally after logging out and logging back in the error went away.

    Answer

That's strange, are you using Google Chrome by any chance? The reason I ask is because I've experienced strange caching issues in Method with Google Chrome, usually clearing the cache and restarting the browser works, or just using a different browser. Glad to hear it's working now though!

Re: importing my data missing suffix field

so now I am getting this error..

Import - Step 1: Import / Export menu

Integration Tools menu >> Import / Export menu >> Prepare Data >> Validation
ERROR:Login Failed: If you have attempted to log in several times, please wait 10 Minutes before trying again.

This page allows you to import data from a file or your clipboard or to export data to a file. First, select which you'd like to do, then select the table.

    1. Choose to import or export:
Import into a table from a file
Import into a table from the clipboard
Export a table to a file
    2. Pick a Table:  Show only common tables?

Integration Tools menu >> Import / Export menu >> Prepare Data >> Validation

I have logged out, logged back in a bunch of times, waited 10 minutes, deleted all cookies associated with method and still getting that error.

I also tried Chrome and get the same error. If I try and select to import a table from a file it gives me..

Import - Step 1: Import / Export menu
    Help |  Menu
Integration Tools menu >> Import / Export menu >> Prepare Data >> Validation
ERROR:Could not load the table list values. Please try reloading the page.

This page allows you to import data from a file or your clipboard or to export data to a file. First, select which you'd like to do, then select the table.

    1. Choose to import or export:
Import into a table from a file
Import into a table from the clipboard
Export a table to a file
    2. Pick a Table:   Choose a table...    Show only common tables?
    3. Choose File to import:

Click on the Browse button to select a file, then click the Import from a File button to send it to Method.

This file should contain text with one record per line. Fields should be separated by commas or tabs. Note that most databases and spreadsheets can export data in this format.

    4. Click Import data:

Integration Tools menu >> Import / Export menu >> Prepare Data >> Validation

    Answer

What were you doing in Method prior to receiving this message? Log out of Method for about 15 minutes, then log back in. Let me know if the issue persists.

Re: importing my data missing suffix field

input my table and fields into customer. Had issues all day with that. Finally just decided to manually add the fields to customer table, but used an _ in the field name and had some error telling me only to use alphanumeric characters. I believe it was right after that I got the errors.

I will try logging out and see if that fixes it.

    thanks for help
