I'm looking for a way to import tags. Has anyone developed a way, or found a way to import tags?

I take it you mean import a list of tags rather than importing tags with a contact? As I understand it, the only way to add tags is through the popup when adding or editing a contact.

Right. I need a better way to both create tags and assign tags to contacts.
Does anyone else out there have a better way? Using the API purhaps?

You do have to create new tags using the interface on the Edit Contacts screen. There is no other way of creating a tag. Once you have your new tags you can use the Integration Tools to import tags to other records. Check out this forum post that explains the process. The taglist field is a text field and stores the tags in a comma-separated list, so watch your commas when doing the import. As always, do a few records first before attempting to update many records.
