Setting location in a meeting activity

New Method user here, so bear with my learning curve. If I'm scheduling an appointment with a customer, I create a new meeting activity that will show up on the calendar. Is there a way in that meeting activity to set the location of the meeting? I'm not seeing it and assuming I'm missing something obvious...

    Hey Joe,

    Welcome to the Forums.

There is no on screen field that will let you input a location. You can either leave the screen stock and add location information within the Activity comments.

Or if you wanted an explicit field on the Activity screen that will allow you to input a location you can accomplish that using customization.

    > Customize the NewActivity & EditActivity screen and add a TextInput field to the screen (which will allow Users to input data into the field)

    > If you only have certain locations you can also drag in a dropdown onto the screen and create a list of locations Users can pick from.

If you haven't already, watch our Introduction to the Customization Screen webinars.

    Mortaza:

Thank you for the reply. A few follow up questions:

If I create a custom field for the location, is there a way to map that to the location field in the Google Calendar sync?

If I create an event with location data in Google Calendar on my Method synced calendar, how does Method handle that location data in Method?

This seems like very basic functionalit0y--do you know why a meeting's location is considered a user customization? How could I request this be fixed (i.e., what's Method's feature request system, like Jira, etc.)?

    Kind regards,

    Joe

    Hey Joe,

You will not be able to transfer that custom field into Google Calendar sync, you can add an Action to transfer whatever that is in the custom location Field into the Activity Comments which do show up in a Google Calendar sync.

If you have location data in the Google Calendar event (the 'Where' field in the Calendar Event) it will sync over into Method within the Comments section.

    E.g. "Location: McDonald's, 160 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, ON M5T 2C2, Canada"

We create feature request tickets internally. I went ahead and created one to transfer the Google event location to a custom location field rather than the Comments section. I'll follow up with what I hear from the developers in regards to API restrictions.

Thanks Mortaza. On the feature request ticket, I think the feature being requested is not to transfer the location from a Google Calendar event to a custom Method activity field, but rather to make location one of the default/stock fields for a meeting activity. In theory, the bare minimum for a meeting activity should be lead/customer, date/time, and location.
