    New Case Notification

    Is it possible to receive a notification from Outlook when a case gets assigned to a user? If so, please explain how we can set this up.

    Hi Steven,

    When you say notification, do you mean email notifications or Outlook reminders? Both are possible. The email notification is easier because you can set that up through Method actions to send the email at the point where the case is created. Outlook reminders are a bit tricky because you would have to create an activity and have it sent to Outlook via the plug-in (manual process). The Method activity can have something specific in the comments like ‘New Case Created’.

    I am referring to either but if email notifications will work if that is easier. Can you go into detail and explain the steps on how to set this up through Method actions?

    Hi Steven,

    For email notification all you really need to do is add a Send Email action to your existing Cases screen. You could add it on the Save and Save & New buttons. You may also want to put some kind of flag in there to ensure you are only sending the email on the first save. Another alternative(Shouldn't need any customization) is after creating your case go to the Case Description / Add Activity tab section and use that to send an email notifying a case has been created and creating an activity.

    What would be the best way to assign the to (user assigned to case) and from (user that assigned case) values in the Send Email action?

    Hi Steven,

    There are a couple of ways to do it. You could retreive values from the screen for the case and assigned to and use that to create an action result with all the details and attach it as the body. For the To email address based on the assigned to you can pull that users email from the users table.
