    Archive the Data

The data in my account is increasing and I observe the application is becoming slow, can you please let me know how to archive the data and use that data when required for me.

    Thanks

    Navitha.

    Answer

    Hi there,

Do you mind if I ask what exactly you find slow? The typical day-to-day use of Method CRM (using our original screens) should be fairly quick. It’s important to identify what you’re doing since there are times when this could definitely be a factor in speed. For example, if you are doing heavy customizations, publishing screens with lots of fields, objects, grids and actions or working with tables, yes that could take longer than say selecting a customer when you’re actually using the working screens.

Maybe it’s the cache on your browser? Have you tried different browsers? Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Answer

    Hi Navitha,

You can use the import / export tool to export the data out to something like an excel. It is not a true data archive b/c all it does is export. If you want to remove the data from Method you will have to manually remove/delete it or do this via actions. If you are thinking of removing the data, I would be very careful as some tables and data may be related to other areas of Method.

    Re: Archive the Data

    Hi,

I am exporting the data from the Grid to Excel, while export the date is getting changed in the excel file. In the Grid it is showing as Dec-19-2011 but in the Excel it is showing as Dec-20-2011. This is not happening with all the records, only few records are getting changed.

Are there any timezone settings which has to be checked?

Can you please let me know what could be reason for this.

    Thanks

    Navitha.

    Re: Archive the Data

    HI Navitha,

Are you using the Export tool or exporting the grid via Method actions? Try reading this post (click here). If you are exporting it using the integration tool it will export raw data which includes time. What time zone are you in? What are the settings on your machine?

    Re: Archive the Data

I am exp0orting the data using the methods action. I am having the EST time zone setting on my machine, but still i am facing the problem.

This is not happening with all the records. it is giving the problem with particular records. Does the time zone setting in the client machine have any problem, because i believe this should take the server time.

    Thanks

    Navitha.

    Re: Archive the Data

    Hi Navitha,

I’m curious to know what table the grid is built from and what field you are using? My hunch is that this is also related to the time portion of the date/time field .

Can you please email me (1) name of the account (2) name of screen. (3) where I can find the actions. Also, please be sure that the Method Support user is enabled.

    Re: Archive the Data

    Hi,

The grid is built from the SalesOrder table. DeliveryDate is the column where we are facing the problem with the data.

AccountName is ServiceDirectgroupllc and the screen name is DDSOReport.

    Thanks

    Navitha.

    Navitha,

Are you sure you have enabled the MethodSupport user? Customize>>>Users and place a check beside that user. I am not able to proceed until this is done.

    Re: Archive the Data

    Hi Navitha,

Thank you for enabling MethodSupport. I was able to log into the account and export the grid to an Excel. I noticed there are hundreds of records being exported and quickly skimmed through the column you specified. The dates seem ok from my end but keep in mind I did a very quick skim as I am not prepared to review the lists record by record.

If you feel this is still an issue you have several options.

    1. We can review this together via a web-meeting through paid consulting.
    2. You can reply back with an exact SO# from that screen that has a different date being exported.
    3. I can send you an email (email me so I can reply) with the Excel I export and you can reply back highlighting the row along with a screen shot of how it appears differently in Method.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

    Re: Archive the Data

Navitha - this has been emailed to you. Please mark the excel as clearly as possible and include small screen shots from Method if needed. A few examples should be sufficient.

    Re: Archive the Data

    Answer

    Hi Navitha,

In in this post (above) you mentioned the following ‘AccountName is ServiceDirectgroupllc and the screen name is DDSOReport.’. Based on this here is what I did:

    1. Customize>>>Screens
    2. Searched for that exact screen name and made a copy
    3. Viewed the screen directly from the list and exported the grid to excel.
    4. Noticed everything seemed ok on my end.

Since then you have sent the excel back along with some great notes (thank you). You have also sent screen shots referencing the your custom Sales Order screen which I found was called ‘SalesOrderNew’.

    Here’s the oversight…

    1. Screen SalesOrderNew is built off the SalesOrder table, which makes sense.
    2. Screen DDSOReport is also built off the SalesOrder table…but…the grid is built off a different table SOReporDataTemp.

I would imagine this is why the values are different. At this point I will ask you to look into the details if your account or schedule paid consulting for further assistance. We’ll consider this one a freebie.

    Hope this helps.
