    Email opened notifications for Method external emails?

    I'm interested in attaching email receipt notices on emails that are sent from Method. We used to do it with Outlook, and knowing nothing about the technology I'm not sure whether this is something to be handled by Method or by our mail server. Any relevant info would be appreciated!

    @smoyee

     If you are using the Outlook plugin with Method then you can set up the Email Open Notification (Request a Read Receipt) when sending an email from Outlook. If you are send an email straight from Method then we do not have this function.

    Please let me know if I can be of further assistance

    Ted,

    Thanks for your response. I was asking about sending emails from within Method.

    But can you clarify your statement about sending an email from Outlook? I already know that standalone Outlook has the read receipt feature, but is this used by the Method plugin in any way?

    I had posted a feature request in the plugin subforum requesting the ability to send Method generated emails through Outlook (as in have an outlook email window pop up from a button click in Method, with the Method email template loaded), but got no response. I'm wondering now if this is already a feature I wasn't aware of?

    Bump.

    Can someone clarify the relationship between Outlook and Method in re sending emails with read receipts? Or alternatively, whether there's any synchronization between emails sent within Method and Outlook?

    Answer

    @smohyee

    Sorry that I did not responded to you until now.

    Using our Method Outlook Plug-in, you are able to add Activities to your Method account from the emails that are sent from Microsoft Outlook. These Activities will retain the contents of these emails in its body. Because you are using Outlook to control your email traffic then the function to Read receipts can be used.

    When you are using the Read Receipt function, it is totally dependent on the receiver's server/client to honour the request.  That means you could send the request, not get a reply, and have no idea what actually happened.  These sorts of functions work best on a closed e-mail system.

    While in Method, there is not a function to request a Read Receipt so you will not be able perform this request.
