I need to create a custome field for text in the activity window...

    First up, welcome to Method!

To add a custom field to the Activity screen you'll first need to add this field to the Activity table.

    1. Click Customize > Tables / Fields and click the Activity table.
    2. Type in your new field name, select the field type and set the size (50 characters in your case).
    3. Click Add Field then click Finished Editing Fields.

The above steps added a new field into your Activity table.  The following steps will show you how to make a copy of the Activity screen

    1. Click Customize > Screens and look for the CRM_NewActivity screen.
    2. Rollover the name and you'll see a view and copy button show up.  Click Copy.
    3. On Step 1 keep it selected on This Account.
    4. On Step 2 you can adjust the name of the screen if you like.
    5. On step 3 select Add a Tab Link and put it on the Activities tab.
    6. Click Finished.
    7. Find your newly created page in the list and rollover it again, you should now see an Edit button - click this.
    8. On the left had side of this page, under the Add Fields section you'll see a list of all the fields in the Activity table.  If you added the field correctly from above then you should be able to find this field under the Add Fields section.
    9. Drag your newly created field to the screen and you're ready to go.

Please post back if you need any help and don't forget to check out our webinars for help with customization.
