    Problems printing multiple invoices at one time

    Hi Everyone,

    One of my clients is having a strange situation occur and I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this or knows why it's happening?  My client keys many invoices a day, and likes to batch print them at the end of the day by selecting them from the Existing Invoices grid on the Invoice screen.  When she prints this way several of the invoices wind up printing the line item detail in a different order then she keyed it.  She then has to go back and print those that printed wrong individually, and then they print the line item detail correctly.  As far as we can tell there is no rhyme or reason to when this is happening or what is causing it to happen.  It's very random, but happens every day.  It just started happening a couple of weeks ago, and has gotten progressively worse each day (more invoices out of order).  Does anyone have any ideas as to what's causing this and how we can fix it?

    Hi Karen,

    I was not able to replicate this. Are you using the stock screen and stock template? If not, then try using the stock screen/template and also advise what modifications have been made?

    Additionally, it would be great to get a screenshot of the line items out of order, as well as when printed normally.

    Hi Ashur,

    I am not using the stock screen or stock template.  I have customized both, however this problem just started to occur after working fine for weeks.

    Again, this only happens when they choose multiple invoices to print and is very random.  I tried selecting the 10 most recent invoices and chose "Print Selected".  They all were fine in the print preview screen except one had the line items out of order ON THE INVOICE PRINTOUT ONLY.  If you select that invoice on the Invoice tab in Method, it is in the correct order.  I did the same exercise using the Simple Invoice template that comes with Method and nothing printed out of order.

    I would like to attach a screen shot of the correct order of invoice #4195 as well as a screen shot of the print preview of the same invoice. but I don't see how to do that.

    Hi Karen,

    Not sure exactly what would be causing some invoices at random to be affected by this issue. Try using the stock screen and template to see if the issue persists. If not then it's most likely a spacing/formating issue with the template itself. One of my colleagues slightly tweaked the spacing/formatting of his invoice template to resolve an issue where a large amount of text in one of his fields was causing line items to appear on different pages.

    To attach a screenshot you can upload it to an image hosting website, e.g. imgur.com, then use the Insert/Edit Image option on the message toolbar to paste the link where the image is stored, e.g. this Superman emblem. *Note: You cannot use a path on your local machine as it is not a server which is accessible to everyone over the internet.

    You may want to consider speaking with a Consultant about this issue if you can't figure it out.

    OK so this is very interesting.  The client had an issue with the computer that they use to sync with, it was down for a few days and in those days when nothing was syncing they had no problems printing, but the minute the syncing started working again the printing problem started.  We've tested it since then, and sure enough this is the cause of the problem.  The client is asking if there is anyway they can do a manual sync once a day after they do their batch printing rather then have the automatic syncing going on all the time.  If I'm understanding the syncing correctly, the only way this could occur is to turn off the integration tool on the computer with QuickBooks on it, and then start it up when they want to sync.  There is no other way to set syncing up to be "manual" is there?

    Just to confirm, this is only happening on new invoices that are created the same day that the reports are generated correct?

    Can you advise how you're sorting the Detail1 band on your report? Is it being sorted by LineOrder? If so, change it to sort by RecordID instead and let me know what happens.
