    Duplicate customers/contacts in customer list

I keep having multiple customers in my customers list for every contact I have for that customer. It clutters the customer list! How can I make it so it only shows just the customer itself? Thanks!

    Hi Wentsi,

What you are seeing is the contacts for your QB customers including contacts for their jobs listed on the one grid, which is normal.

If you wish to modify what data is displayed you could create filters and different views for the grid to display. In this instance, if you filter the grid for Field:Special Type, Filter:Contains and Value:Contact you should then only see the main contact for each customer

For further information regarding Customization, video tutorials can be found here.

    Hope this helps!

    Hey Noel,

    I got to:

    Field: Special Type

    Field Type: Text

    Filter: Contains
Get Value From: Value from Screen

    Select Value:Existing Customer Contact List

But I still see the duplicates. I'm not sure how from what I selected or any of the choices would filter out the contact jobs. Thanks!

    Hi Wentsi,

Try following my instructions below and let me know how it goes. I have tested the same on the stock Customer List screen with success.

Click Edit to enter the Grid Wizard for Contacts and go to Step 3:Filters.

Ensure 'Choose or create a View Name' is set to your default view - this is Shared Active Customer Contacts on the stock screen.

From 'Choose from a list of available fields' select SpecialType.

Filter: 'Contains' will include Contacts and AltContacts. 'Equal to' will only show Contacts.

    Get value from: Type In

    Select value: Contact

These steps should produce the desired result.
