Unable to change Unique status on field in table

    Unable to change Unique status on field in table

    I had a situation where I was developing a new app, and I wanted to change the unique status on a field in a table. I went into method new to try to change this. It would not allow me to do this. I went into method classic and unchecked the box, that worked.

    Hello Mahlon,

       I would like some more information.  First, what table were you using (ie. was it a QuickBooks or Method table)?  Also, was it a custom field or a standard field on the table?  Finally, was the Unique in Method:New appear to be read-only or did you get an error?

    It was new table I created... Thus a method table.

    The unique selector was grayed out. It did not let me check or uncheck it.

    I went to method classic and unchecked it without a problem.

    12/4/14 Update

    I am continuing on this post because I think the issues may be related.

    I created the table below in method. I originally had the field Style set to be unique.

    After more consideration, I decided I did not need it to be unique. I had to go into method classic to change the status. After a few minutes the status was refreshed in method new.

    However, I'm still getting a warning that a unique value is required when trying to add a record into the table.

    Hello Mahlon,

        I did some testing. 

       For the Unique switch being read-only and not editable on the field table edit screen, I'll put in a ticket.  I was able to replicate it.

       For the second issue, it's difficult to say what is going on.  There does seem to be a time discrepancy between Method:Classic and Method:New when you make a field unique.  I don't think we'll have a solution for this because in the end everyone will be using just Method:New.  I could only replicate the second issue if I didn't log in or out to refresh the table settings in Method:New.  Or I didn't wait long enough for the changes to appear in Method:New.  We'll have to get the first issue fixed and then see if it resolves the second issue.
