    Identifying sync issues

    Hello Method Community!

I just wanted to share some info with you as it pertains to sync issues.  When a sync is performed, there's two ways that the data is transmitted.  One of the ways is via the Method Integration Engine, installed during the installation process.  The Engine accepts changes made to Method and sends them to QuickBooks, allowing the QuickBooks database to be updated in real time.  The second way to transmit data is via the Method Integration Listener.  This was a small program you also installed during the installation process.  This allows for changes that are made directly to the QuickBooks database using the QuickBooks application to be 'heard' in Method, also in real time.

So to sum up, there's two ways that Method and QuickBooks relay information to one another: 1) the Engine which takes info from Method to QuickBooks and 2) the Listener which takes info from QuickBooks to Method.  If you're having issues syncing, first see if you can make changes to your Method account and if the changes sync with QuickBooks.  If so, your Method Integration Engine’s real time syncing is operating just fine.  Next, try making changes in QuickBooks and seeing if the changes sync with Method.  If so, your Method Listener is operating just fine.  This is a great first step in identifying a problem, as it will make it easier to determine where the issue resides.

I hope you find this useful!
