    Google Sign-in attempt prevented - Emailing from Method

    I added a new salesman to our Method account this week. Tried to set up his email via his profile within Method (My profile>Notifications; uncheck default email prefs, enter gmail info and Save and Close). An error message in Method is displayed saying authentication failed. The username/password is correct b/c we are logging into Google successfully with the same information.

    My salesman is getting an email from Google saying 'Sign-in attempt prevented' when Method is attempting to test the email account info entered...

    Someone just tried to sign in to your Google Account stephen@texasmultichem.com from an app that doesn't meet modern security standards.

    Google stopped this sign-in attempt, but you should review your recently used devices:

    Anyone else seen this? I can authenticate from my Method profile but his has a problem.

    Curious...is the email account password we enter in this box saved and hashed (hopefully) in Method somewhere? E.g. should the password ever change we would need to update in Method again? Mine hasn't changed lately so I don't remember ever needing to update it in my Method profile.

    Hi Blake,

    We have certainly seen this one before. For first time connections of Gmail accounts to method, you will need to Authorize your Users Google security settings to accept Method's IP addresses.

    You can do this by following the steps outlined in THIS ARTICLE.

    That's some pretty technical stuff that a standard business user must peform. No way my employees would be able to perform those steps. Luckily this is only a problem for one of my users that I can tell and he happens to be a new employee that I'll be seeing soon (my salesman live/work around the state in different locations).

    In my situation though, my new salesman can loging using Google just fine. It's just the email settings that don't work.
