Jason,

Thank you for the 2 ways to view QB detail on Method. I still can't get quite what I need, so I have a few more questions:

1. What is the Webinar url or YouTube link for the webinar that gives more information about how to view QB Transaction Details in Method?

2. Is there a way to view the transaction details by account number, similar to what pops up in QB on the PC when user clicks on an Account number in the Trial Balance or Balance Sheet report?

After I log into my Method acct, how do I get to the screen where I can view the data in the various QB Databases on Method, especially the Transaction Detail DB? Thanks.

Hi David

Thank you for both of your replies on my Forum posting about problems with Web Service APIs calls. Very helpful. I have passed them on to my IT staff and we'll follow your instructions and suggestions and try to get the problems resolved. I'll let you know if I have other findings or questions.

Problems with Web Service API Call

Our Method Integration API calls are not always working. It sometimes works for about 24 hours, then stops working. It returns the following error message.

"The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship with remote server.The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship with remote server.0Therre was an error with the methods API call."

We have used both HTTP and HTTPS, and one of the other sometimes work.
We are using Visual Studios 2005, ASP.Net

These are the urls we use to get to the Web Services directory:

The code that we use for the API calls are shown below.

Questions:
1    Method API documentation suggests using HTTPS, is that still true?
2.   Is there a limit to the # of API calls such as 1000 per day/ week/ month?
3.   Why are the Method API calls not working and what can we do to get them to work reliably.

API to run reports

Within methods there is an option to create quickbooks reports then schedule it to run periodically. I am wondering if anyone has been able to use the methods API's to replicate this process. What I am trying to do is not have to manually create a quickbooks report but automate it so I can create and submit via the API.

If such API does not currently exist, can Method create new API which lets users run Method QB Reports using API and not have to run each one manually.

Multiple Currency and DB

I have a client (Method acct name = IOTW2) that uses currency Colombian Peso and his QB edit/preference/Multiple currency shows "Colombian Pesos (COP)". But in the Method "Company" DB it shows currency = USD. What needs to occur for the Method DB to show the correct multiple currency? Is there another DB that shows the correct currency? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply info and link, very helpful.

It happens again today when I tried to close QB I got the msg "The company file canot be closed at this time because there is another application (Method Integration Engine..) which is using it....". I did a File / Shutdown and then I was able to close QB without geting the msg.

Can't Log Out of QB due to Method running

I and other clients sometimes cannot exit out of QB on our PC because we get a message that says some application (Method) is running and this prevents user from being able to exit QB or open another company file. Method sync engine has been closed but we still keep getting that message. Usually we have to reboot the PC or close the apps using Task Manager.

What is causing this, and what can we do to not get this message and be able to close QB or open another QB file? Thanks.

Sync Engine does not start automatically

What can I do when the sync engine does not automatically start when I start QB on my PC?
Other symptoms include:
- The Method sync engine "M" logo does not always appear in my PC tray at the bottom right corner.
- When I try to start Method sync engine from my desktop icon, nothing happens. The sync box does not appear anywhere.
But sometimes when I close QB, a message says the sync engine is running, but its no where in sight.

Rebooting my computer usually solves this problem, and the Method engine appears. But is there a better solution to get Method sync engine started and appearing than rebooting?

Is there a command from within QB that I can run to start the engine?

Please provide add'l detail about your comment below so I can answer my clients questions:
"The 20 minute interval you have setup is to pick up any changes that may have been missed and didn't get pushed for example changes made in QB on a computer that does not have the sync engine installed."

Questions:
1. If QB is running on a computer that does not have the sync engine installed, that would never sync to Method right? So when would manually running the sync affect these computers which does not have the sync engine installed?

2. Do some QB using clients have a network of PCs where only the main PC is linked to Method, and all the other computers feed QB transactions to the one main PC? In this situation is the main PC the only one with the sync engine, or should all the PCs have the sync engine installed?

3. Other than running the Full Sync after the initial installation of the sync engine, is there any need to run the Full or Change Only Sync manually?

Sorry if some of my questions are very basic, they all help me to get a full understanding. Thanks. Dave
