How long does a full sync take?

Today, I noticed that Method shows my inventory quantities are inaccurate. I clicked on the SYNC button to do a full sync today, and the little "daisy wheel" icon appeared briefly, but then disappeared. Then I refreshed the screen and the sync date has not changed, and my inventory quantities have also not changed.

I set our company up for Method Warehouse and did a sync on November 4th. I can see in the Quickbooks tab that this is the last time that sync appears to have been done. I then had to abandon Method for a couple of weeks while we did a physical inventory count and I got the inventory adjustments done in QB. We just didn't have time to get method up to speed in time.

Today, I noticed that Method shows my inventory quantities are inaccurate. They appear (after a random check) to be the quantities that were in the system BEFORE we counted the inventory and BEFORE we did the inventory adjustments in QB. I went into the QB tab to see when the last sync was done and it indicates it was on November 4th, which is before I made the inventory adjustments. I clicked on the SYNC button to do a full sync today, and the little "daisy wheel" icon appeared briefly, but then disappeared. Then I refreshed the screen and the sync date has not changed, and my inventory quantities have also not changed.

How long does a full sync take? I read in other forum q&a that it's ok to use Method while the sync is taking place, but I'm not sure how long I should wait till it appears nothing is going to happen. Is there a way to tell that the sync is in process?

Thanks much.

Data Entry is very slow

Hi Ryan,

We've finished with inventory and now I'm back to getting us set up in Method. I'm setting up bins (standard bins) for the items that we have in stock so that I can transfer the inventory from the receiving bins into the standard bins. This is the correct next step, right?

What I'm finding is that the data entry speed is extremely slow. I understand that we have a lot of items, but it seems like if I enter the entire item number, then method should not have to search for it and the speed should get faster?? It's taking me between one & two minutes to set up each new bin. Also, the system will not let me move faster than it and then wait at the end of each new bin creation for it to catch up. If I do this, it:

A. Tabs into the incorrect next field

B. enters the WRONG item number

C. enters the bin date without the slashes between the day/month and month/year.

This is going to take forever if I have to enter 1500 of these just to get started. Can you give me any suggestions? Or, can you tell me whether this is normal or not? I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I spend the time setting all of these up. If this will be the norm, then I need to re-evaluate.

I really appreciate any feedback or tips you can send my way.

Cheers,

OK, I’ve spent the afternoon listening to the remaining webinars that I think would help me get started in Method Warehouse. I am now at a point where I feel overloaded with info that will be of no use to me until I can get my inventory numbers correct.

I’ve also read several sections of the Method Warehouse Quick Start Guide

I’ve also looked on the Forums to see if other people could answer my questions about how to get started. The only threads that I saw had been taken down from the site or deleted already. They were from June this year.

I played around in my own database for a while and I tried doing inventory adjustments and putting items into our smallest warehouse just to see if I could do it, and it won’t allow me to save the record with the adjustments in it. It gives me the following message:

Message

This record could not be saved. The version of your accounting software does not support edits on this list or transactions from 3rd party software. Try editing the record directly in your accounting software instead.

Additional Information

Action Sequence Order: 1

So far, I haven’t found an entry point for me that looks appropriate to begin using the software. The very first thing that feels critical to me is getting the inventory levels correct for all of our products so we can begin invoicing again. Can you either direct me to the correct documentation or send me some helpful info, or maybe we’ll have to have a conversation or I’ll have to pay for consulting, but I definitely need to get this solved pretty quickly.

I understand that we haven't had a chance to talk yet, and you did call me to check in today. I'm posting this message in the hopes that I'm following the instructions correctly to post my questions on the forum.

Cheers,
