Sorry it's been a few days since I've been on. I tried this fix and it worked. The Save/Refresh Grid was somehow reverting the change. It works just fine now.

Re: Setting Values for Yes/No Fields

I put it in a couple of places:

In Item->Text Change, followed by a Save Grid and Refresh Grid.

In Quantity -> Lose Focus, followed by Save Grid and Refresh Grid.

I've been attempting to set the value to "True" in order to check the box, but so far to no avail. I managed to generate an internal error that was emailed to Method in the process of my attempts.

I'm using the "Enter value into field on screen" action and setting the IsMarkupPercent field equal to a type-in value of "True". Was this your approach?

Setting Values for Yes/No Fields

I'm currently working with grids for EstimateLines. I'm having trouble setting the value of the IsMarkupPercent field. During the text change for the item field I set the value as IsMarkupPercent = Yes. However, when I make a call to return the value it shows up null, or empty. Later after a Lose Focus on the Quantity field I set the value again with "Yes", made a call and it shows up as IsMarkupPercent = Yes. However, when I check the value again after tabbing into the next field, the value shows IsMarkupPercent = false. Even though it returned a value of Yes, the IsMarkupPercent was never actually set. It just responded with what I recently typed.

It seems I've tried everything to force IsMarkupPercent to be Yes or true. Am I missing something? Is there some kind of trick to programatically setting Yes/No fields?

Re: Update Grid Action

James,

Thanks for your reply to the earlier post. After reading through the thread, I believe it's possible that some changes have been made within Method actions with regard to the Update button. It appears that the Update button is giving me the same results as a call to the Save Grid action.

I've also tried combining the Save Grid and Refresh Grid actions as well as using only the Refresh Grid action, but so far I can't discern a difference between the two. So far it appears as if Save Grid = Refresh Grid = Update button.

Maybe Jason could shed some light on this for us.

Thanks,

You are correct. All of my fields were editable and so none were centered. I then added a link to the grid, which centered properly. I also modified one of my editable fields to make it read only. Once I did this, that field also centered properly.

Thank you for the clarification. Just to recap, here is my understanding so far based on what you've said and information gathered from other forum threads:

Rate: This is automatically populated with the item's cost (as in cost to our company) from QuickBooks. However, if there is no cost information in QuickBooks, this field will be automatically populated with the sales price (as in the amount we sell it for).

MarkupRate: This is either a dollar amount or a percentage (as indicated by IsMarkupPercent) that is used to adjust the Rate. If I understand correctly, Method retrieves the item's cost directly from Quickbooks. If there is also a sales price in QB, Method automatically adjusts the MarkupRate to reflect this difference. However, there seems to be no field to store the sales price in. It seems that the original cost is stored in the Rate field and the markup rate is stored in MarkupRate. The result of those two fields will give the ultimate unit sales price. However, the value does not seem to be stored in the table anywhere.

If there is no cost, only a sales price stored in QB, I'm guessing the MarkupRate is set to 0 and the sale price is stored in the Rate field as mentioned above.

IsMarkupPercent: "Yes" value let's Method know to calculate percentage markup to the Rate. "No" value simply adds the MarkupRate as a dollar amount to the Rate.

Amount: The actual calculation seems to work in the following ways:

If IsMarkupPercent = Yes, Rate x (1+MarkupRate/100) x Quantity (Dividing the MarkupRate by 100 turns the percent to a decimal)

If IsMarkupPercent = No, (Rate + MarkupRate) x Quantity

If MarkupRate = 0 Rate x Quantity

TotalAmount: Used for totaling all amounts of items that belong to a group. I haven't tried this out yet so I'm not exactly sure about it's behavior.

IsRatePercent: I'm not sure about this one. What does this do?

Please let me know if any of this information is inaccurate. Hopefully it will help anyone else trying to navigate the EstimateLine mapping between Method and QB.

This is very helpful. I noticed some weird behavior while retrieving values from a grid row. I would manually change a field, such as quantity, tab out and later call an action to retrieve the value from quantity, which retrieved the previous value. I suppose the solution is to always save and refresh the grid before making a call to retrieve values. Am I making sense?

Re: Update Grid Action

Jason,

Thanks for the response. That brings up another question...

Is it possible to dynamically change the ability to edit rows based on user or role? Or would this require a completely new grid?

I'm working with grids now, and I've found that in most cases, I would rather control the updating of the grid myself, rather than let the user press the update button. So I guess I have two questions:

1) Is there any way to hide or disable the Update button?

2) Is there any documentation on exactly what the update button is doing?
