The Close Date field for Opportunities is required on both the table and screen levels, so you would have to modify both of those. Before doing this, please be aware that this could have implications on other parts of your account, for example if you had reports or workflows that assumed that all opportunities have a close date.

With that being said, here is how you could accomplish this. First, go to Customize > Tables / Fields and edit the Opportunities table. Scroll down to the CloseDate field, and uncheck the checkbox under the Required? column. Then click Finish Editing Fields.

Now that the field is not required on the table level, you can change the validations on the screens to not check for this field. The New Opportunity & Edit Opportunity screens have this validation and both work the same way. On the Save button actions, there is a conditional warning that checks for a blank value in the Close Date field:

You can remove these Conditional Warnings since the close date isn't required anymore.

Just let me know if you have any questions about this. If you'd like some help with this customization you could sign up for a consulting session: http://www.method.me/support/assisted-services/.
Are you referring to the Work Orders List > Print / Email > Email Work Orders button? Where the email body says "Your work order is attached"?

If so, this screen is built a little differently and doesn't have the same template system as the other screens you mentioned. However you can change the email body with some customization. To do this, first edit the FiledService_WorkOrderList screen. Then, edit the Email Work Orders button. Click next to go to the actions list, you will see 2 Send Email actions depending on which option the user selects.

Both have the body of the email hardcoded into the action:

Which is why a template isn't used. Depending on what you want in the body of the email, you have some options for customization here. You could simply replace the existing body text with your own, or if you wanted to get more complex you could incorporate an HTML editor with merge fields (similar to the existing templates).

Hope this helps, please let us know if you have any questions about this. If you'd like some help with this customization you could sign up for a consulting session: http://www.method.me/support/assisted-services/.
That field is calculated behind the scenes, in order to prevent conflicts with QuickBooks which has to validate the line items.
The default Estimate screen uses calculations on the line items (for example to calculate the amount), so from the sounds of your request this is where you would add additional actions for the extended cost. To get to these actions, first open up the Estimate screen for editing (making a copy if you haven't customized the default screen yet). Then, click on Edit on the Line Items grid. On step 2 of the wizard, click Actions beside item. Then select Text Change on the Event dropdown.

All of the default calculations happen on the Text Changed event of the Item dropdown, so you could add your custom calculations here as well. You would first need to add your Extended Cost column to the grid, then get/set it's value using the necessary actions.

You also have the option of looping through the grid or table it is attached to (in this case EstimateLine), if that works better for your workflow.

You could involve a Method Consultant to help you with this project (http://www.method.me/support/assisted-services/). If you would like to explore this possibility please speak with your account manager.

Did you import a CSV file using the Import / Export tool (Customize > Integration Tools)? I've been unable to reproduce this issue on my end, these French characters remained after I imported: àâéèëêî. Did you try with other characters? If so, can you paste some of these characters into this forum post so I can try on my end?

A find and replace could solve this but would take some work, so I'd like to investigate why the import didn't work for you.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

To restrict one group of users to these basic functions, I would first create a User Role for that, and remove all of the other tabs/screens from this role. More information on this can be found here: http://www.method.me/cs/forums/t/3664.aspx.

Then you could either modify an existing screen to disable some features for this role, or create a new screen for this. These new/modified screens could be the only ones available for these roles.

If you would like, this sounds like a great project to involve a Method Consultant in (http://www.method.me/support/assisted-services/).
By default there are 3 columns displayed under the Item dropdown: ParentFullName, ItemType, and SalesDesc. All of the columns are searched when text is entered into the dropdown, but you could remove the description field SalesDesc if you don't want that to be searchable. To do this, open up the screen you are using (as a few screens use line items), then click the Edit button on the Line Items grid. Next, click on Advanced beside the Item field on page 2 of the wizard. Finally, switch the 3rd column to blank (top of the dropdown) instead of SalesDesc.

To start, you would need to determine on which action the Purchase Order would be created. You could do this on the save action, and then then either set a new Yes/No field if the Purchase Order should only be created once, or you could set a new dropdown field linking to the Purchase Order which you could use to update the it whenever the Sales Order is saved.

Since the Purchase Order and Sales Order tables do not have identical fields, you would need to determine which fields would copy over. When you are creating the Purchase Order you could include logic to set the preferred vendor. Lastly, you would have to copy over all of the line items.

Greg asked me to take a look at your question. You are correct, unfortunately it is not possible to use images stored in SmartVault in the Report Designer.

When files are uploaded to Method instead of SmartVault, the field containing the file can be used in the report designer to display the attached image (for example the Document field in the DocumentLibrary table). However when a file is stored in SmartVault, the field prints blank in the report designer, which it seems like you are experiencing. The only way to use images stored in Method in the Report Designer is to upload them to Method.

I have created a feature request for this functionality. I don't imagine this would be an easy modification for our development team, but I'll reply in this thread if I recieve any feedback.

Regards,
