I saw a forum post about reverse engineering the Create Sales Order button. But is there a way to copy the settings from that button and only change what needs to be changed for the estimate to work? if so, what changes would need to be made besides changing the table in the "Insert Records into Table" actions under the Event?

I tried copying the Create sales order event to a new event named Duplicate Estimate. But it won't let me change the table in any of the "Insert Records into Table" actions.

If there is an easier way, please let me know. I would need each step thou.

I am putting Send Email actions on Save Buttons on several screen and I am building the email using an Action Result and Character Functions.

I want to be able to put all of that in an Action Set (or something reusable) so I don't have to recreate these actions for every button on every screen.

If there is a better way to do what I described as my goal, please let me know how to do that.

There are several other screens where I need to re-use or copy Actions as well. Like with Activities, there are multiple Save button on different screens that could all use the same set of actions that I would like to copy or reuse if I can put them into an Action Set.

Here is an example of what I did to build the email and add it to the Save Button to my New Opportunities Screen. There are two other buttons on this screen that needs the same Actions.

EXAMPLE (I can upload a screen shot if you can tell me how to do that too)

----Added to New Opportunity Screen Save button
Assign Value to Action Result: Assign current date/time to arSubject
Character Function: Append "on" to arSubject
Character Function: Append "username" to end of arSubject
Character Function: Append "- created by" to ar Subject
Character Function: Append Customer:Job to arSubject
Character Function: Append "created for" to arSubject
Character Function: Append Opportunity: Record ID to arSubject
Character Function: Append "New Opportunity" to arSubject

Send Email: Sends email notification of New Opportunity created (I sent the Subject to the Action Result I created called "arSubject)

*I joinied each Character function to the Action Result with a space. Sidenote: For some reason I had to order everything backwards for it to show up in the right order in the email. Not sure why that is.

Thanks! That answered my question.

Filter was the wrong terminology. MWhat I meant was, my "To Do" Activity Type is set up to show up on the calendar and to cause a reminder. I wanted to make sure that

if I put "To Do" in that action that it would still show up on the calendar and cause a reminder.

I was just wondering, since it requires I type in the Status rather than choosing from the

list of statuses I have in the system, does it only populate the field with the typed phrase? Or is it converting it to the Status that has been set up if it is an exact match?

Example:

When I create a new activity, it gives me the option to select Complete or Not Started. These are Statuses that have settings that effect the filtering. So if I enter in exactly "Not Started", in action 5 as you metnioned, will that use the Status "Not Started" that was already set up with its filter settings? Likewaise, if I were to ass something that was not a Status alraedy, what would happen? Would it automatically be created as a status, or would it just populate the field with that phrase? It seems like it would have to have some kind of default filter.

Basically i want to make sure that it shows up in the right filter.

Thanks

How to Set up Notifications

Is there a way for me (as the administrator) to receive notification emails everytime any user creates or edits a lead, customer, opportunity, or activity?

All the email notification would need to say was the users name and what they created (activity or opportunity...), and the ID of it.

Basically, i would like to know when anything happens, mostly because I am training a need to double check the work of my employees.

I would at least like to know when a new opportunity or activity is created, if possible, if the above is not possible.

It is not working for some reason.

In the Edit Opportunity screen, under the New/Edit Activity Tab, I clicked on Edit next to the Activity Status Drop Down. The first step says "Not Started" is the default, which is what I want. Step 4 says the default is blank, and when I try to select "Not Started" it doesn't save when i click to the next step nor when I click save immediately. I also set the default in the My CRM Preferences tab on the Home Screen to "Not Started".

But when I go to create a new activity from the Edit Opportunity screen, it still says "Completed" for the default status.

The same this is happening when I try to change the default for the Activity Type in the Edit Opportunity Screen.

Can anyone help?
