&lt;p&gt;1) &lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_0_start"&gt;It would be nice to have the cursor/pointer start spinning, or something, so that you know that your &amp;quot;click&amp;quot; is processing.&amp;nbsp; I find my work flow slowed because I click, thinking that I&amp;#39;m on my way to a new screen, when in fact nothing has happened.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_0_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;2)&amp;nbsp; Please make ENTER perform the same function as clicking on the search magnifying glass.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3)&amp;nbsp; Will solutions be available via M:N?&amp;nbsp; I see no place for them.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;5)&amp;nbsp; I have read about App Ribbons and watched the tutorials; however, I cannot find any place that shows whether or not a specific app will appear on another app&amp;#39;s ribbon, nor can I see how to edit the funtionality of the apps on the ribbons.&amp;nbsp; Example:&amp;nbsp; In the View Contact screen, when you click on Sales Receipt, it brings up a list of 5 SR&amp;#39;s.&amp;nbsp; What if I wanted that to display 10 or 15?&amp;nbsp; Is this editable?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;6)&amp;nbsp; I want to change what is displayed when I click on the Sales Receipt button in the App Ribbon.&amp;nbsp; I found where that can be done, but when I attempt to do so, it says that only the publisher can make these changes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;7)&amp;nbsp; Although I have changed the preference to have commas used in my numbers, this is not working.&amp;nbsp; The &amp;quot;Use thousands separator&amp;quot; is turned on, but no commas.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;8)&amp;nbsp; Some of the tutorials appear to be dated already.&amp;nbsp; He shows a button or certain choices that do not exist.&amp;nbsp; They are still useful, though.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;9)&amp;nbsp; When I am in the View Contact screen and looking at a specific customer, something very odd is happening.&amp;nbsp; In the header there are three lines: contact, company, and entity.&amp;nbsp; In this one particular contact where the contact and company are one in the same, there are three words: Artemis Rising Foundation.&amp;nbsp; In the Contact line, the &amp;quot;g&amp;quot; does not appear.&amp;nbsp; I have checked every place imaginable for a misspelling, but they are all correct.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;10)&amp;nbsp; Tags - These would be very useful if there was a single tag list rather than one for contacts and other(s) for other purposes.&amp;nbsp; There is a Tag option in the Sales Receipt screen, but it is not the same Tags as in the contact screen.&amp;nbsp; Why? I would like to be able to link a specific transaction from a customer to a specific vendor and it seems like a common tag would be ideal.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_0_start"&gt;&lt;span class="pspan"&gt;Error:xxx-xx-xxxx&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_1_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt; is too long for insertion (11 characters). The value must be 10 characters or less.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The x&amp;#39;s were originally the vendor&amp;#39;s SSN.&amp;nbsp; The VendorTaxIdent&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_2_start"&gt; field needs to be adjusted to accept 11 characters, because a tax ID can be either an EIN&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_4_start"&gt; (10 characters)&lt;/span&gt; or an SSN (11 characters).&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;QuickBooks accepts both an EIN as xx-xxxxxxx and an SSN as xxx-xx-xxxx.&amp;nbsp; Apparently so does Method, at least on a sync, because I did not enter these into Excel.&amp;nbsp; They were already in Method using the SSN format.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Our organization has been using SalesForce as their CRM for some time.&amp;nbsp; They have also been using QB Desktop for a long time; however, a few years ago, the previous accountant found it necessary to start a new QB file, thus losing the connection between the data in the previous QB file and the current QB file.&amp;nbsp; The old data exists and is accessible, but you have to open a second QB session to view it.&amp;nbsp; So, I have QB data for years 1-7 in one QB file&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_0_start"&gt;,&lt;/span&gt; QB data for years 8-10 in a separate QB file, and all data for years 1-10 in SalesForce.&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_1_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Issue:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I cannot bring the old QB data into the new QB file, because it would totally upset all balances on the Balance Sheet and make our CPA&amp;#39;s very unhappy.&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_2_start"&gt;&amp;nbsp; The books in the current QB file are organized much differently, so the correlation between the two would be a total disaster.&amp;nbsp; So, we&amp;#39;re stuck with three separate data points and no way to merge them into a single usable point.&amp;nbsp; I might add that some in the office are unhappy with SalesForce&amp;#39;s ability to accurately report, but there is no way (currently) to get them out of it.&amp;nbsp; I, however, am using Method to manage one specific aspect of our operations that is beyond the scope of SalesForce.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_2_start"&gt;Need:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;Is it possible to import all historical data from SalesForce into Method without having it sync to QB?&amp;nbsp; I understand the import/export function, and I also understand the &amp;quot;Wait for Sync Approval?&amp;quot; box in transactions.&amp;nbsp; What I want to do is make sure that Contacts merge properly with existing ones, transactions are associated with the right customers, but these transactions can never sync with QB.&amp;nbsp; The end result is that in QB I will only see customers and transactions that have occurred since those books were started, but in Method I will have a complete record of all transactions over the life of the customer relationship.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Example:&amp;nbsp; In SalesForce, I have customers A, B, and C.&amp;nbsp; Each of them has &lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_3_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;transactions 1, 2, and 3.&amp;nbsp; In the current QB file, I only have customers A and B, and they only have transaction number 3.&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_4_start"&gt; I want to import SalesForce data into Method with the end result being a Method file with A, B, and C each having 1, 2, and 3; but in QuickBooks I will only see A and B with number 3.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_4_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;My thoughts:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;1 - &lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_5_start"&gt;Export all customers from SalesForce to Excel.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_5_end"&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;2 - Clean up the data in Excel.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;3 - Import them into Method as Leads (keeping them separate for the time being).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;4 - Do another cleanup, if necessary, in Method.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;5 - Export to Excel and re-import after turning off the IsLeadOnly field.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;6 - Export all transactions associated with these customers from SalesForce&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;7 - Clean up the data in Excel.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;8 - Create an&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_6_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt; hidden check box in the transaction table that prevents syncing with QB.&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_7_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_7_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;9 - Set this field to TRUE in all the transactions.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;10 - Import the transactions to the customers.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Does this seem doable?&amp;nbsp; Have I missed any steps?&amp;nbsp; Are there any I missed?&amp;nbsp; I might add that I would do all of this using a Sandbox QB file to ensure I don&amp;#39;t destroy what I have.&amp;nbsp; Is there a way to do the same with Method?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;2)&amp;nbsp; All money that has been granted to them so far (vendor payments)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3)&amp;nbsp; A list of money currently available to them.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4)&amp;nbsp; A collection of documents that will assist them in performing various tasks such as requesting funds, providing information, our banking information for mailing checks or sending wires, etc.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;I would like them to be able to print a copy of the donations and the grants, but they don&amp;rsquo;t have to be on the same printout.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;For transactions we use Sales Receipts and Invoices for the Donors, and Bills/Bill Payment Checks for the grantees.&amp;nbsp; There are is also a General Journal entry associated with each donation.&amp;nbsp; This shows money that has been deducted from the donation such as our fee (5%), banking fees, etc.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;The common link in QuickBooks between the vendor and the customer is classes.&amp;nbsp; Each project has its own class.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;Now, having said all that, they don&amp;rsquo;t have to see any grids at all, if it&amp;rsquo;s even possible.&amp;nbsp; If they can just click on a button that will produce the information, that would be plenty.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_1_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description></item><item><title>Hybrid Portal?</title><link>http://forums.method.me/cs/forums/p/7065/26285.aspx#26285</link><pubDate>Thu, 12 Mar 2015 22:27:50 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">3393c1ec-311b-4812-96cb-ad8c611bba4f:26285</guid><dc:creator>MarioHerbst</dc:creator><description>&lt;p&gt;We are a charitable nonprofit organization.&amp;nbsp; One of our programs involves receiving money from donors and then turning around and giving money to grantees.&amp;nbsp; Our donors are &amp;quot;Customers&amp;quot; in QuickBooks and Method, and our grantees are &amp;quot;Vendors&amp;quot;.&amp;nbsp; We are looking to expand this program, but we need a way for our grantees to be a little more self-sufficient in solving their own problems and answering their own questions.&amp;nbsp; The logical approach is to have them access information via a portal.&amp;nbsp; However, I&amp;#39;m not sure what to use as the common key in order to produce a portal that will give them just information related to their project.&amp;nbsp; Customers have TAGS, but vendors do not.&amp;nbsp; Vendors have a VENDOR TYPE, but customers do not.&amp;nbsp; In QuickBooks, we link them together using a different CLASS for each project, then all transactions are coded with the appropriate class so when we produce a detailed P&amp;amp;L in QuickBooks, I see all donations and grants for a single project/class.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We want our grantees to be able to go to their portal and see something that reflects all donations given for their project including amount, name, address, etc, as well as something that shows all grants received from us.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;PROBLEM:&amp;nbsp; I&amp;#39;m not sure what to key off of so they get all information in one shot.&amp;nbsp; &lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_0_start"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_0_start"&gt;A left side equals donations and right side equals grants format would be fine, but is this possible without creating an entirely new table?&amp;nbsp; I have previous experience with Method, so I&amp;#39;m familiar with&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="overflow:hidden;" id="mce_1_start"&gt; the basics in field/table/tab/tablink creation, but I also know that I would rather not have to go that route if at all possible.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
