I have deleted everywhere i used the new TagList, I have deleted the field from the Customer table.

I have recreated the field and put it back into add new customer screen for testing.

Two odds things are now happening.

1. I am seeing a tag in the list...which should not really be possible since it is a new field.

2. when i click edit tags i still see the [object Object] call in the choose table selector input. Somewhere between the server and the front end the object isnt be serialized or parsed right maybe? It looks that way in the response from the GET route if that helps at all. I can see the contact table that has a TagList in it properly.

Any help on getting this up and running would be appreciated.

Re: TagList on other tables

Happy to message you that, but I don't know exactly what you mean by Tag Field on my spreadsheet. In this instance I am not importing anything from a spreadsheet, I just entering it directly into Method.

TagList on other tables

Hello,

I have created a TagList in my Customer field so I can directly tag customers. I followed the steps set out in this post:
https://www.method.me/cs/forums/t/6756.aspx

It sort of works, except that wherever it displays the tags it just displays [object Object] instead. I will attach a few screens.

I am not quite sure how method handles that tag list, it seems to somehow know that it's a tag list because i didnt set up any formatting for it yet it's partially formatted, so I am guessing I have just missed a step.

So, I have just found out that there is an Entity table that seems to hold everything that is in the Customer table and the Contact table?

Im having trouble understandthing the function of this table, specifically I am having throuble understanding which table i need to be working in when. I have added a bunch of stuff to my Customer table, but should I really have added all that to the entity table? Should i build my grid views on the entity table, or the customer table?

thanks!

Re: Contact info into Customer table based grid

I can publish a solution to this:

tables in custom SQL quieries must be appended with view or viewacc.

view is for tables that exist only in method and viewacc is for tables that came from QB.

See: https://www.method.me/cs/forums/p/5538/21043.aspx

The query i ran was:

SELECT TagList FROM viewContacts WHERE viewContacts.EntityRecordID = viewaccCustomer.RecordID

I am not saying it's the only solution, or the best solution, but this solved my problem if anyone else has a similar problem.

Database Diagram

Hi!

I understand that there are probably reasons why this is not made available, but, it would be GREATLY beneficial to me if there was a stock database diagram I could look at that detailed the Method database.

While customizing I notice that I spend half of my time wading through tables and exporting data to try to figure out how things are related. As an example, I spent like 45 minutes trying to figure out how to get a go to.. button on a grid based on the customer table to work because I didn't get that the EntityRecord from the contacts table was just the RecordID of the customer table (which is where I was trying to copy my action from). Granted, I'm not really the quickest with all of this so someone more expierenced probably would have gotten that a lot sooner than I did.

I just thought I would ask.

Contact info into Customer table based grid

I have an interesting (maybe?) situation here.

I have added a lot of fields to my Customer table so I can track additional things. All good there. I have a new grid that I have set up that shows me a certain subset of my customers (in the case, it shows me customers that are marked as a band). Ok all good there too.

Problem is here, I'd like to display the tags on these customers. When I set this up i didn't realize that the stock customer display screen was built on the Contacts table. If I had realized that I probably would have put all these fields into that table instead. I am guessing that however "tags" work, they live in the Contact table and not the Customer table.

What I need to do is get my grid that is based on my Customer table to show the tags, that I think are in the Contacts table (but I'm not sure exactly where that is stored at the moment).

I am guessing I need to run a custom SQL query somewhere that shows me my tags matching on the current customer being displayed. I can probably fumble my way through that but I was figuring (hopeing, really) that someone out there had already done this and I could just copy your work.

thanks!
