Tabels and Fields creating custom field types?!

We are in the construction field. I have created a new Table called Contracted, in order to keep track of our customers contracts with us.

I went to create a Dropdown list based on a new table. I watched the Webinar on this and followed the instructions. When I created the new Field, instead of the Field type being "Dropdown", it displayed the Field type as the name of the table as if I had created a new field type. WTH.

If you click the Field Type name, which is a link, it shows the Field Type as Text...

On your Method Dashboard, your app tiles now feature descriptions and have been redesigned to focus on the most important action related to that app.

The new “unsaved work” notification at the top of your Method screen provides an indicator when you have navigated away from tasks that require completing. No more “What was I doing?!” moments when you have to switch gears and check something on a different screen.

Hi Daisy, and welcome to the Forums!

Some initial thoughts: if your Sales Reps are working throughout different transaction screens (Estimates,SalesOrders,Invoices...) these changes will need to be added to each and everyone of those screen they enter their orders into.

For this example let's use the Estimate screen, (these Actions will be the same throughout different transaction screens).

Customize the Estimate screen and then start by creating a copy of the EstimateLine Grid and heading over to the Advanced options for the fields you want to be Read Only.

We now have two EstimateLine Grids. The goal here is to check if the Current User should have access to the stock EstimateLine Grid or to the ReadOnly EstimateLine Grid.

To do that we can take a few different routes, what I did was add a field to Users table (IsReadOnly) which is a boolean field. I then set the Users who I want to be able to only view the ReadOnly Grid to TRUE.

The flow will now be to add the following Action Set to the OnScreenLoad:
> Check to see who Current User is

Add the result to an ActionResult (resultIsReadOnly)

> Condition statement: If Current User IsReadOnly=TRUE

> Now within the Conditional Statement add a Show/Hide Field/Object Action hiding Stock EstimateLine Grid and showing ReadOnly EstimateLine Grid copy you made

Hi Marcelo,

Since this is not an editable grid you can use a loop through grid action.

For example, using a button object with a click event you can add a loop through action which goes row by row on the grid and executes an action, that action being update field in table.

Custom Filter View Search not working as intended

I've added a field to the customer table called RegionCenter and want to be able to search on the field RegionCenter and BillAddressState in the "search existing leads & customers" screen. I added the two fields to the area "search fields", added the two columns to the table grid and added the filter views for the two fields. The search for BillAddressState works perfectly but the custom field is not populated with any data even though entries exist in the customer table/field RegionCenter.

What am I missing here? Is there something I need to do to populate this custom field with data in the search grid? Any help will be greatly appreciated because there is a serious lack of documentation on doing any kind of customizations with Method. Many of the Webinar links that appear could answer some of my questions are broken links.

Hello Vince,

You are right , you have to do three seperate imports into three separate tables, Basically the import /export tool allows you to extract all datat from tables in Method(export), and import records into any table that supports additons.

I am quite confused about the second part of your question in which you mentioned whart are the minimum fields you would need to create an initial activity and opportunity, I assume you are asking about the fields that required to create an activity or opportunity based on above mentioned criteria. In order to check that you can go to Customize > Tables/Fields and then select the required table, lets assume Activity table in this case. So once you click on activity table you will see all the fields populated on the screen, Then you can check all the fields and whichever fields are checked under Required? those fields are required fields and based on your need you can select the other fileds during import and export.

I would suggest you to go through the amazing video tutorial we have in our Helpcenter and webinar on Import/Export.

Hello all:

I'm a newbie, but am not new to CRM's. I'm looking for a post, webinar (or an answer) regarding the following:

What is the optimal way to import in Leads with 1 new opportunity and 1 activity? I'm still finding myself having to manually do the opp and the activity, but I'd rather add them in all at the same data insert .

So far, this is what I'm thinking:

These are the basic fields I add for 'customer lead' table.

BillAddressAddr1

BillAddressAddr2

BillAddressCity

BillAddressPostalCode

BillAddressState

CompanyName

IsActive

LeadStatus

Name

Phone

SalesRep

What are the minimum fields ones I would need to be able to create an initial opportunity (say, with a due date of 120 days from today)?

What are the minimum fields ones I would need to be able to create an initial initial activity (say, 30 days out from today). I would choose "outgoing phonecall", "not started"?

Also, am I to guess I would need to do 3 separate imports: 1 for 'customer lead' table, 1 for "opportunity table" and 1 for "activity table"?
