Hi Greg,

I cleared all filters and only had 'FullName' in the grid and it was still empty in a portal session. However, when I was logged in under a normal account everything was visible.

I noticed that the screen's base table was "Items" and the grid was as well, but the grid was "Attached". I deleted the grid and added a new one that was detached and everything now shows up in the portal session.

Do you know why an attached grid would have visible items in a normal session but not a portal session? Kind of odd but it's working now. Thank you for the help.

Hi Greg,

Thank you for your help. When I add the screen to the portal page (as you did) I am able to see everything in the grid perfectly fine when I am the user logged in. However, the grid is empty if I log in as a contact through the portal.

Could you please verify that your grid is visible in a portal session and not just while logged in under a normal account? I am using the link under Customize->Portals->Get sign-in page web address...

I have a screenshot but I don't see where to upload it other than a URL...

The filters for the Items table are:

1. ItemType is equal to Inventory

2. IsActive equals yes

Is it possible to allow portal users to view the inventory table when it is not linked to the contact/customer record ID? This is NOT for a contact to view an invoice or a sales order receipt - this is for our distributors to view the available inventory.

Portal Tables

We have created a portal for our distributors but I have noticed that grids will not display data from a QuickBooks table unless it is linked to the portal entity logged in. If you create a portal screen and a grid which displays a few fields from the Items table in QuickBooks (for example, an item name and the quantity in stock), items will be visible while logged in with a normal account but the grid rows will be empty when logged in through the portal even if there are no filters applied to the grid.

However, if you create a new table and copy all data from the Items table to the new table, then create a grid in the portal screen based on the new table... the data is visible. It is very exhausting having to duplicate tables (dump QB data into a custom table) just to have info available in a portal session. Is there a way to remove the portal filters on certain screens or a certain portal?

ServerTimeModified error

Hi, I'm trying to insert records from one table into another and I keep receiving an error that the column 'ServerTimeModified' is invalid. This is not a field name in these tables so it sounds like a bug in the system. Here is the error:

This is a feature I would really like to see implemented in a future release, along with the ability to create global functions and some way of doing a for/while loop.

So if it is a Method-only table I should use 'view' and if it is a QuickBooks table I should use 'viewacc'. I'll keep that in mind.

SQL Override table name

I was having a problem with the SQL Override in a grid and found the solution, however, I don't understand why it works and hope someone can help clarify the naming convention.

I have a grid based on a table called "ProductFamily". I was getting a record count in another table called "Item" with the following:

"SELECT Count(viewaccItem.RecordID) FROM viewaccItem WHERE viewaccItem.ProductFamily_RecordID = viewaccProductFamily.RecordID"

There was an error generating the grid and I found that the problem was due to how I was referencing the ProductFamily table (the table the grid is based on). I removed "acc" from the table name and everything worked perfect (viewProductFamily instead of viewaccProductFamily).

Does anyone know why the "acc" is dropped from a table name reference when it is the table for the grid (use view[table name] instead of viewacc[table name])? The only thing I could think is that "acc" tells the system to look for an external table but if that is the case, why would you need to put "view"?

Method Errors

Over the last couple of days I have been getting an incredible amount of errors in Method, 2 of them are making it hard to use the system:

Error1:

Anything I do in the screen designer gives an error "Invalid Viewstate" "Referer: https://app.methodintegration.com/stage/Designer/DesignerCallBackFunction.aspx". This makes it hard to save or publish a screen after I make changes. I have never seen this error before and it is happening when I copy a standard (stock) screen and try to edit it, and also when I try to edit a custom screen that was working fine last week.

Error2:

Most screens (custom or standard) don't load and give an error "We were unable to resolve your request. Either the screen you are trying to access does not exist, or there was a problem with your request." This is not a problem with custom screens incorrectly created because it even happens when I try to open the edit table screen. Refreshing the page allows the screen to load.

I'm not sure if these 2 errors are related but Method is running extremely slow, causing me to be slightly hypnotized from staring at the spinning circle. I have noticed that these errors are occuring when using Windows (both Chrome and IE browsers) but not when I use Chrome on a linux machine. I thought it might be due to changes in the February version but when I sign in under the October version (most recent fallback-version available) the errors are still present.

Advanced Script Filter Error

Hi, I'm trying to generate a report using an advanced script filter but keep getting an error. I'm using the SalesOrder table and filtering fields Customer_RecordID and ShipDate. Here is what I'm assigning to an action result:

Customer_RecordID IN (100,101,102,103) AND ShipDate BETWEEN 'Dec-01-2013' AND 'Dec-09-2013'

I'm then filtering the SalesOrder table with this action result as the script. I have verified that there are records meeting this criteria but keep getting the following error when generating a PDF report:

Error^Action Sequence Order:19^ERROR: There was an unspecified error loading the report. Please check your Generate Report action to ensure all filters are setup properly, and that the report loads correctly in the report designer.

The report is based on the SalesOrder table and displays correctly without the filter. Is this the correct way to use a filter script or do I need to reference the table (for example, viewaccSalesOrder.Customer_RecordID)?
