Release Notes

  • Method Platform Updates - October 28, 2012

    "October" version now available

The following updates are now available on the staging site.  You can access the October version by clicking "Switch to the October Version" when you sign into Method.

    • Recent history - this may be one of the biggest features you never knew you needed! Method now keeps track of recent records you created, edited or viewed, and lets you quickly access them from the top-right corner of the screen. It's like an advanced "back" button. Click here to learn more.
    • New look for tab groups - tab groups now have the same look and feel as My Profile in the top-right corner, making the design more consistent and slicker.
    • Hover in menus more convenient - the menus in the top-right (My Profile, Tab Groups and Recent) are faster and easier to use now that they are activated on mouse over and mouse out, instead of mouse clicks.
    • Show/Hide columns per view filter - you can now force hidden grid columns to automatically show based on the view filter chosen. You can set this by clicking Advanced next to the grid column under the grid wizard.
    • Get node value from XML - has been added to the Character Function action to help parse values returned from XML, such as when developers are integrating with a third party API. Click here to learn more.
    • QB Online - 'Client is Taxable'- Invoice, Estimate and SalesReceipt screens now support the 'Client is Taxable' feature from QBO.
    • Load Web Page - added "Replace Current Screen" to "Load Web Page" action.
    • Suppress warning when no rows are checked - an advanced option has been added to start loop through grid so that if no checkboxes are selected, the standard warning does not appear.
    • Ability to clear checkboxes - the refresh grid and clear screen for new entry actions now have the option to clear the checkbox column in the grid.
    • New action: Get Field/Object ID - this will be used by advanced users who want to overwrite Method's UI with their own, but be able to write javascript that calls actions from buttons on the screen.
    • Fix: html editor was overlooking the number of lines set.
    • Fix: Go To Tablink wasn't respecting close popup when going to a different tab.

    Enjoy,

    Paul

  • Method Platform Updates - September 25th, 2012

"September" version will be available later today

The following updates are now available on the staging site.  You can access the September version by clicking "Switch to the September Version" when you sign into Method.

    • Google Calendar sync is here! - Method now syncs nicely with Google Calendar. Your Method appointments can now be viewed, added and modified from anywhere you currently use your Google Calendar, such as your mobile phone, or tablet. To get started, just sign into the September version with using the Google Apps sign in, and we'll take care of the rest. Click here to learn more.
    • Google Maps - support drawing polygons again - something that was left out of August's migration to Google Maps V3.
    • Fix: Google Maps - direction headers show the addressed type by the user, instead of Google's interpretation of the address.
    • Recurring Dates - the Insert Date date picker doesn't lose the last date inserted.
    • Portals - now support mobile screens. However, functionality is limited as this is not an intended implementation.
    • Time Zone improvement - when users sign into portals and their time zone is not recognized, they are now given the option to select their time zone instead of being shut out.
    • Security improvement - if a Go To Tab link action is used on a screen, it will no longer give users access to tab links they are not normally able to see.
    • Recurring Dates - inserting and deleting recurring dates now hit the audit trail from the recurring dates object.
    • Roles - much improved tree-view interface to help you figure out how users are affected by a change in roles.

    Enjoy,

    Paul

    Activities List

    • New (#3710) - in some cases you might want to filter your activity list by more than one piece of information.  For example, you might want to see all the activities assigned to a specific user with a specific status. Doing this with the old activity list screen was a challenge since the “Assigned To/Type/Status” column only allowed for one filter at a time.

Now you are able to show additional columns for assigned to, type, status, contact, name and company.  This allows you to filter by these columns using the filter header at the top of the grid. (QBD & QBO)

So how do you show additional columns?
      1. Click the gear icon in the bottom right corner of the grid.
      2. Select the columns you’d like to appear.
      3. Click Update.  Keep in mind that this will only last as long as you keep this window open.  This means the next time you open this screen, these columns will be hidden again.
    • New - quickly edit a contact or entity by clicking on the contact/entity name when the contact or name field is displayed in the activities grid. (QBD & QBO)

    • New - using any of the new filter views with the word “future” allows you to see activities you have schedule for a future date.  This is a great way to quickly check and see if you have a follow-up activity scheduled for a contact. (QBD & QBO)
    • Improved (#3211) - the existing filter views have been updated to filter out activities that are part of the series. Method users who use recurring activities would have a difficult time locating the series vs. the occurrences.  Now all filter views except for those with the word “series” no longer display the series in the list.  Special thanks for Susan and Lisa for the feedback on this.  I know it took a while but we’ve got it in there now.
    • Improved - the new activity button now uses Method’s button styling vs. an image.  Hover over it and you’ll see....oh....ah..... (QBD & QBO)

    Cheers,

    Danny
